Any brand would be OK as long as it is still useable and it's a whitewall for the Schwinn S-7 rim. A 20 X 1.75 will NOT fit this rim. Please email photo and price, including shipping to Indiana (47904). Thank you very much

FOR SALE:1950s(?) Peugeot, fair condition posted by: Ann on 6/23/2009 at 7:59:12 AM
Hello,

I have a Peugeot that I pulled out of a trash pile, and from picture comparisons (mainly of the script logo) it seems to date from the mid-1950s. It has a generator, not working, to power the front and back lights. I spent some money to tune it up, and was told that the back wheel would eventually need to be replaced, but it still does not ride well and I think the front wheel (they are both original, I believe) might need to be replaced as well.

It is interesting to me as an antique, even if it is not in good shape, and I'm wondering what to do with it, as it's taking up space in my apartment at the moment. Should I just throw it back on the trash pile, or is there value in the bones? Looking for any advice!

I doubt anyone here would advise trashing it. Like adopting a kitten, you've taken a responsibility- welcome to the club. It's not very collectible or rare, but if someone will ride it there is that value. If not, put it up on eBay and let the market decide, and get a bike shop to pack and ship it for you (include their charges in your shipping cost).
It is either newer than you think or has had its crankset replaced, or both. I'd guess 70s, but I wouldn't bet. Peugeot made some models that didn't change much over that span.

Can we see more pictures? Did/does it have a multi-speed freewheel cluster? What does it say on the brakes? Are the tires 700c/622? Are the cranks steel, or aluminum?

You've acquired a very nice bike and in remarkable condition for it's age. Pictures from the chain side would help a lot in verifying the model and age. Also closeups of the crank, rear hub, lights, etc would help. I wouldnt change any parts if you want to sell it. Peugeots of that vintage, in good condition have some value.

Depending on the condition of the bike and if it is all complete it is worth between $100-$200 dollars. If you are interested in selling let me know and post some pictures and we can go from there.

WANTED:Sturmey Archer 1965 T- stick shifter posted by: Lloyd on 6/18/2009 at 10:38:47 AM
Hi
My wife has 1965 original owner Mustang Bicycle with a Sturmey Archer T-stick shifter on it. The top of the Tee has mysteriously gone missing and she wants to replace it. Does anyone out there have an old shifter that they are selling for parts or breaking down for parts. Alternately, can you steer me to somebody who may be able to help.
Regards,
Lloyd

First, we appreciate the feedback...

Using pictures here at OldRoads is a little tricky.
For the past 15+ years, this site has not required registration, a valid email, logins, passwords or any other BS like that.

This works well, until it comes to pictures.

Right now, if you want to include a picture, the picture:

1) MUST ALREADY BE UPLOADED SOMEWHERE ON THE WEB.
2) MUST NOT REQUIRE A LOGIN TO VIEW IT.

So, if you upload a picture to a photo hosting site, and put the URL of the photo (the web address of the photo), people can click on it and see it.

The problems start when I use words like URL.

If you want to host a picture here at OldRoads, you can create a login and password on the Readers Rides section of our site (Under General Resources at the top of every page)

-Vin
