MISC:Need Help posted by: Chris on 5/17/2009 at 7:00:08 AM
I have an old / antique bicycle that is near perfect shape. I am trying to identify its value and sell it to someone that would be interested. It has a metal label on the front of the bike it says, “North West Patrol, Arnold Schwinn and Co., Chicago”. Then there is a picture of a guy that looks like a Royal Canadian Mounted Police person. The bike is in almost perfect condition, and I believe it was professionally restored 10 to 15 years ago. The bike has a serial number of U50611 and is white and a girls bike. Any help any of you could provide on establishing a fair market value would be much appreciated! Its for sale if anyone is interested. The bike is located in Colorado and we can work out shipping arrangements in a seperate email.

Chris, you didn't specify serial number location; start here
http://www.bunchobikes.com/repair2.htm
to date your bike. (I'll guess '55, if it's on the dropout.) Then use
http://www.trfindley.com/pg_schwinn_cats.htm
to find a model equipped like yours.
Don't forget to take pictures.

WANTED:Want vintage block chain sample posted by: Mark P. on 5/10/2009 at 7:33:19 PM
I am looking for a section of original block chain for skip tooth sprockets. Not the later roller chain replacement, but the primitive block type. I don't need enough to use on a bicycle, just a few links will be fine. I am looking into reproducing it for bike restorations and need a sample to take measurements from. I will gladly pay for the chain and shipping. Thanks.

RE:WANTED:Want vintage block chain sample posted by Rick on 7/2/2009 at 10:26:12 AM
I have a Peerless from roughly 1907 that has an early block-chain on it. The chain has some stretch to it, but these are supposed to be a 1" pitch chain. I haven't fully decided if I'm willing to part with it - I'm seeking a replacement as we speak. I'd like to support reproduction though. Have you found one yet?

Puch bicycles , made in that location, is probably the brand name of the bike. I did a search for " Puch Klapprad " [folding bike ] & came up with a few hits. Here is one, yes it is in German, but scroll down & thru the pages & you will probably see one like yours. Pretty good folding bike, resale in very good condition, maybe $100-$175.

Lots of Sears bikes were made there also, presumably in the Puch factory.

I'm looking for a set of "Christophe METAL mini-clips" in a "Large size". These are metal half-clips that were popular for many years. I've tried the "plastic" half-clips and don't like them at all!! If you have a set in good shape (no rust pls.), I'd be interested, thanks!

Cable brakes, not rod brakes, right?
Have a look in the 2 price guides at the top of this page.
Also try asking under the English Roadster topic.
