Reynolds 531 Fourreaux Frame

Mountain Tour Saddle
Mavic Rims (61 cm)
Tornade Solibloc Pump
Campagnolo Front Shifter

Needs new tyres. The saddle is not original. Although I have been informed by those with lots of experience with Jeunets from this era that some of the components I have listed are not original equipment, except for the saddle, they are all the components that were on the bike when I bought it new from the bike shop. If some components are not stock, then they were changed by the bike shop before I purchased the bike. Bike is in excellent condition.

FOR SALE:Early 80's Trek Road Bike, Steel Frame posted by: Mike on 4/27/2009 at 1:02:37 PM
I'd like to sell an old Trek road bike that I have. I would like to know what a fair price might be for this bike. I do not know the model or year, but estimate it to be from the early 1980's. The serial number is: M4C2C1, rims are Rigida, Suntour components, Suntour VX derailers. Under the seat there is a faded sticker, all I can make out is a big nubmer 022 and Chro-mo (frame material?)

I was thinking $200 is a fair asking price???

Yeah, that's probably reasonable, although it's not the Reynolds frame.
I would search your serial number for another digit on the end. Look it up here if you haven't already:
http://www.vintage-trek.com/SerialNumbers.htm
In all probability it's an 82 model 412. Note that vintage-trek does a fair amount of speculation, talking about what's probable but not known. They could not believe me when I told them Trek had used a Campy cable guide on my 613, but I know it's in the original paint. You could do me a kindness by examining your cable guide (on the BB shell) for any markings...

I recently got a Popular Special-Sport MOdel, made in England. Buy the hub I got to know it was made in 1937. I had been researching about it but I can't find who made this bicycle. It is dark green and got its decals intact. Any idea where I can go for more information? I am looking for this information to get an idea in terms of how much is its value.Thanks. jro

i've got a bet with some friends about this bike... they say it's a 1960's gt cruiser, which i'm sure isn't right, because gt became a company in 79'. can someone tell me what it might be? is it possible that it's 1960's?... i don't think it's possible.
thanks for your time - moses

WANTED:Fork for 86 Trek 531 Reynolds Tubing posted by: Brooks Gentry on 4/24/2009 at 4:20:12 PM
I am looking for a Fork for a 1986 Trek Tri Series. It has reynolds 531 tubing. I took it to a bike shop and they said that the steering tube is bent. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do or does anyone know where I can buy a fork for this bike. The bike is in great condition. except for the bent fork, and i'd really like for everything to be right. Please let me know if you have any suggestings. Thanks

RE:WANTED:Fork for 86 Trek 531 Reynolds Tubing posted by Keith Body on 4/27/2009 at 1:58:51 PM
It should be possible to straighten your fork column. If it's 531 it is very strong, unlike Raleigh and other rubbish. Depends on what you expect, and how bad it is.
Quick and dirty, lie on the floor with your feet on the bottom bracket, and firmly hold the front wheel. With an assistant looking down the line of the fork all you do is give it a pull. The assistant must understand when to say "Stop". Better with a 7/8 inch bar down it instead of the handlebar stem.
The proper way is to remove the fork, insert the 7/8 bar as far as it will go, mount in a strong bench vice horizontally, and pull both blades at the same time. (one foot up against the vice.
If you could post a picture showing how bent it is, side view and down the line of the fork blade I will try to assess your chances.

I checked the Oldroads picture database and the pictures at http://www.nostalgic.net/
and in both places I found Monarks that had been misspelled with a ch - when you check the picture database, search under "monarch" and you'll find a '53 Monark Rocket.
