In general, a rusty three-speed is worth fixing if someone will ride it, but it's just transportation.
here's info:

So, if it's pre-1957 it's interesting; otherwise it's a mass-market Raleigh.

FOR SALE:   Flying Pigeon QE23 (26" wheels) Light Roadster posted by: Jay on 4/2/2009 at 9:45:27 PM
$145

In good condition. I heard these were sold in Berkeley about 10 years ago, so maybe this is one of those. The new men's bikes being sold in some cities around the country are PA-02 and PA-06 with 28" wheels. According to the Flying Pigeon website, this is model QE-23. It has 26" wheels. Like most of the traditional style Flying Pigeons, this has Phillips style rod pull brakes, Westwood style rims, sprung "leather" seat (not Brooks style, it's more like a cover), fenders and rear rack. This particular model has a spring suspension system in the front. It has a standover height of about 30". It has a pretty short seatpost, so if you are 5'10" and taller and enjoy a proper leg extension, you'll have to get a longer seatpost. Flying Pigeon logos are all over it, even on the freewheel. It's pretty cool. I was about to order a new set of brakes ($25) but decided on selling the bike and buying a different one.

Looking for a 20 inch Hawthorne/Montgomery-Wards front sprocket.Looking for one that has slots in it. If I had a picture I would post but I don't have one just a memory of what it looks like. Also need good white Persons solo polo? I believe this bike could of came with one,Did Troxel make a seat that resemble the persons?

Troxel made a polo seat in that era. I have one that has springs at the point where the seat post is clamped, as though they had taken the undercarriage from a regular sprung saddle and put a polo seat on it. I think it's wider than the Persons too, but if I remember correctly the early StingRay saddles were wider than later models - is this true, y'all?

RE:WANTED:   mid 60's- 70's hawthorne parts? posted by DENNIS on 4/3/2009 at 2:12:23 PM
i dont remember this seat having any springs under it, so if all troxel seats have these springs is it possible it could be a persons? or was there another make that might resemble a persons?

RE:RE:WANTED:   mid 60's- 70's hawthorne parts? posted by ken on 4/7/2009 at 10:43:22 AM
I guess there must have been others.
When we were kids in 63-64 we went to the Schwinn shop to buy banana seats for our bikes - I'm sure the Schwinn Approved ones of that day were Persons. I think the sprung Troxel is unusual- that's why I mentioned it.

Hey thanks for the tip on this seat. I have been trying to locate this style of seat for sometime. It seems that there must not be any intrest in late 60' early 70's 20'inch bikes, other than the Schwinn brand.
