FOR SALE:   Still in Box Never unpacked or Assembled Early 1970's Hercules and Tyler Mens 3 speed posted by: Jeff Miles on 2/20/2009 at 10:28:17 PM
I have two original vintage early 1970's 3 speeds a Hercules (made by raleigh) dark green men's 3 speed and a Tyler (made in poland) black mens 3 speed both bike have sturmey archer hubs. They both are in their original boxes never taken out or assembled. They are a close as you can get to going back to 1970 and buying a new bike. They have never be unpacked. I pulled back the top flap to take a picture for this add. I have included pictures of the boxes and the bikes inside. I also included pictures that I got off the internet of what the bikes would look like assembled. The assembled bikes are not the actual bikes but to show you the model and what they would look like. You could choose to assemble the bikes and use them or save them in the box and save them as an investment for the future. They are a true rarity. I got them from a man who had a bike shop for 45 years and closed it 30 years ago and saved these in his basement for the last 30years. The would fit an individual between 5'6"-6'1". Feel free to email me any questions, I would be happy to answer them thanks. 267.733.7124

am not a bike collector or have alot of knowledge on them. These bikes were in my house when i bought it. One is a phillips. It says made in birmingham england. the 3 speed shifter says sturmey archer england. there is a wing nut on the tire. there is a plate on it that says p'ville,o 1963-64 1180. I think the owner put it on. I live in ohio so i think it means painsville. I am in Canton, ohio. I dont know where to look for serial numbers or anything. The second is a shelby bike. They do need cleaned. I didnt want to touch them and rub anything off. I have pictures. I have no idea how to ship bikes if wanted to buy

I think that's a Raleigh and might be of some interest to a Raleigh fan. Does it say where it was made?

RE:MISC:help posted by kelly on 2/18/2009 at 2:08:30 PM

RE:RE:MISC:help posted by ken on 2/20/2009 at 11:29:45 AM
You didn't specify the trike's location. Do you have a local craigslist? That might be easiest. eBay would bring something- have you searched for raleigh big trike?
At least, don't throw it away just yet.

I've got a Raleigh Lenton Sports that I'd like to fit with Bluemels Lightweight mudguards. My tires at 26 x 1 3/8" (35mm wide) are a bit too wide for the Club Specials and probably the Populars too... I'm looking for white ones! Thanks for any info!

Try posting your wanted ad under the Balloon Tire topic, too. That is a great old bike and some of the people in the Ballon section probably have parts or know who has them.

FOR SALE:Raleigh 1937? posted by: Nicki on 2/11/2009 at 8:54:16 PM
I have a Raleigh that I think is from 1937. The Sturmey-Archer hub says AW 7 7. The 7's are not next to each other like it would be if it was indicating a year. So from my research I am assuming that it is from July 1937. I can only decipher a few numbers from the serial number on the frame. All the parts look original. I'm looking for someone who is looking for a bike like this, about how much it may be worth, or where I could take it in the Fresno, CA area. Thank You.
