What does it say on the frame?

I can't read the writing on the frame -- looks like the second word might be "Stutz." Anyway, it's unusual, probably pre-war because of the rear dropouts. I would guess it's a European knockoff of Schwinn's cantilever frame.

FOR SALE:   HELP Please posted by: becca on 1/8/2009 at 4:05:16 PM
We have 2 bikes that are dusty from setting in the shed. I do not know what the value of these are so I need help finding out.
Bike #1 is Lotus Pro Series 3000M Cromo 3 Main Tubes and Suntour X Press Power Control shifter. The color of the bike is white and it is a man's bike.

Bike #2 is Motobecane Nomade II Touring Bike with Suntour Shifts, It is Gold... and the bar goes downward so it is probably a womans bike.

If you have any idea on how I can price these or a web site that can help me please e-mail me at carlbecca@yahoo.com

Thank you

MISC:   Bike Polish? posted by: PAT on 1/6/2009 at 9:32:10 PM
Howdy and Happy New Year.

When cleaning up my 1961 Raleigh, what should I use to polish it? It's all original paint and logos.Would something like NU FINISH (for cars) be good? I want something that will protect it as well as clean it up and make her shine. After all, I'm still trying to sell it!

Thanks for the help.

I think Nu Finish is a good choice. I've used car wax successfully, especially where the paint was fading; but you want to make sure it's good and clean first. Soap and water, or a mild degreaser like simple green is a good first step. Unless the damage is already done, avoid anything abrasive including scotchbrite or steel wool which will haze chrome and paint.

I'm looking for a monarch bike, bought new in 1953.
Metallic green in color, with turn signals, horn, light
built in front fender. Maybe it was called a silver king.
It was the top of the line in 1953.
Maybe somebody knows of one today. Please e-mail

The Silver King was all aluminum (silver, not green).
Have a look at the Monarchs in the picture database here to determine the model.
