Local bike shops should be able to get that item, J&B importers (supplier to shops) normally has stuff like that.

WANTED:   please help identify this beach cruiser frame posted by: bubblegumbutt on 12/21/2008 at 4:35:27 PM
the serial # is UV99090135; there are schwinn-like frame tubes, but the welds look nothing like a schwinn. some weirdo painted her a most disgusting blue color- she is that metallic green underneath with a bone-colored paint on the headtube and about 3 or 4 inches of the top and down tubes, the partial remnants of three decals all bone-colored with the little "Pontiac" car emblum in blood-red. one of them had a word, but the only letters left are C,L,A either it said "classic" or clam-digger, it's driving me nuts

Have you tried to look up the numbers through the columbia web site? They had bike similar to what you describe... You could also try to look at what type of brakes it has and if there is a makers mark and try to identify it that way... That's how I found out what type of bike I had and it was really helpful!!! You might also want to try to post a picture of it here...

WANTED:   RALEIGH 3-Speed Ladies Bike posted by: PAT on 12/17/2008 at 12:37:54 PM
Howdy, All!

I am starting my quest for the following bike:
Raleigh Space Rider (or similar model)
* Ladie's style (fairly low "step-through")
* 16 inch frame
* 24 inch wheels
* 3-Speed
* COASTER and Hand brakes

In decent shape and riding condition, maybe mid-1960's or early 1970's. Not really interested in the newer stuff because I think the older bicycles have more soul.

If you know of a bike like this or know of anyone who may have one, please contact me. I'd like to have this bike when the weather gets nice again and I can ride in the spring.

Thank You very much!

MERRY CHRISTMAS & Happy 2009

FOR SALE:   Bob Jackson Lightweight - 58cm posted by: Bryan @ RenaissanceBicycles.com on 12/17/2008 at 7:57:46 AM
Late 1970's (serial number 13040) Bob Jackson 58cm road bike.
The bike currently has a mix of original and "upgraded" components.
It was professionally repainted a few years ago and does not currently have any decals. (however, these are available for $45)
The bike has sat in a garage for at least 10 years ... so it needs a little TLC and a new set of tires. Everything is in working condition.

Here are some photos: http://www.luceb.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=640

The story of the bike as written by the owner:

"The Bike was purchased by Bill Grigsby. He was a world traveling photographer for Conde Nast in New York, mostly on assignments for magazines. He retired to Florida in the late sixties, never married, never owned or drove a car, lived here on a small sailboat, and rode the bike everywhere he went. We had a sailboat too, and became good friends with him. Late in life he decided to give up the sailboat and go back to NY to live with his sister. He gave away the sailboat, and everything he owned, including the bike to me."

Price: $750 OBO
Shipping in the U.S. will be $65. International buyers will pay actual shipping cost.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need more photos of the bike.

I agree with JD, I think that's a lot of moola for this particular bike. Looks like a ladie's bike to me! Maybe I missed it, but what is the frame size, please? And for that year, I don't think you could call a Sturmey Archer hub "rare"...

          RE:FOR SALE:   1969 Vintage Raleigh Robin Hood Bike unrestored condition posted by PAT on 12/17/2008 at 8:13:34 PM
It's best if you don't try to "restore" (ie: paint and so forth)it as many people want these bikes in "orginal condition" as much as possible. You might want to try to clean up the white part of the rear fender but don't paint it.

If there are parts missing you can contact Derek Folgate at:

www.oldbiketrader.co.uk

in England to get authentic Raleigh parts for that era Robin Hood. He's been very helpful finding parts for my bike and his prices aren't bad even with shipping from England.

More close-up pictures will be good, especially of the gears, brakes and painted areas.

You might want to try posting it on e-bay if you want to auction it off; you might get more money there.

Just a few ideas for you...

When replacing fender braces these come in very handy for your restorations. They look like a rivet buy are actually a slotless screw. A very trick item. I have used them for years on any bike from ballooners to muscle bikes. Here you get 50 to a package with the nuts for $9 plus $3 shipping. More than youll need but nice to put in the parts drawer.
