Those old lugged cables are hard to find.
I think the gear cable is just a standard 3-speed cable (for Sturmey-Archer hubs)

FOR SALE:   ** 1961 Vintage Raleigh Ladies COLT for sale* posted by: PAT on 12/8/2008 at 10:58:39 PM
** Vintage Raleigh Ladies COLT for sale **

' 3-Speed Sturmey Archer Internal Hub Gears
' Aqua Blue color
' 18.5" Frame
' 26" Wheels
' Coaster AND Hand Brakes
' Model known as "COLT"
' Made in England

This bike has NEW:
Brake Cables
Gear Cables
2 Rear Reflectors
Whitewall Tires / Innertubes
Handlebar Grips

This bicycle's gears were serviced a year and a half ago; it was tuned up in May, 2008.

The numbers on the rear hub are:
6 I 7
which I've been told means it dates from 1961.

The paint is in great condition, with no "open wounds" or rust although a previous owner did try to "touch up" the paint with small dabs of a different shade of blue with interesting results. The down tube does have some slight fading from the sun and there is some minor scuffing on the rear fender.
The decals and insignia are original to the bike.

The saddle is original and appears to be made of a creamy white vinyl and has not aged as gracefully as the rest of the bike. I currently have a sheep skin cover on it, so the saddle is usable.

A black stem extender was attached last summer but is removeable.

The only reason I'm selling this beautiful bike is that it is just too big for me to handle; if I could grow another 5 or 6 inches in height, I'd keep it!

Please e-mail with questions and to see some more pictures
and I'll be glad to chat with you. I have a few photos at the Readers Rides section under "Raleigh Rides Again".

Thank you very much.

WANTED:   Bianchi Specialissima posted by: Adam Martin on 12/8/2008 at 3:55:36 PM
Firstly I am writing from Brisbane, Australia...... I am in an unusual position in that I have my dream bike in perfect origional condition, however the frame size is to large for me. I have a 1982 (that is what I have been told by a friend who knows a lot more about these bikes that me) Bianchi Specialissima with a 58 frame size, with full campagnolo and is in a very good condition with all origional parts (it still has its origional front tyre on the bike, that is how little it has been ridden). The problem for me is that I ride a size 54 frame and no matter what I do to a size 58 it just dosen't fit me. I am looking for a Bianchi Specialissima frame from around 1982 that would be my size? I would consider trading my frame, with money adjustment or considering trading the bike all together for something of equal quality in my size.

I have exhaused all the avenues I could think of here in Australia regarding getting a frame my size and that is why I am now doing this post as I am sure there is one out there for me. I would be very interested if anybody had any other options/suggestions for getting a Bianchi Specialissima in my size.

Yours in old school cycling,

Adam Martin

Hi Adam,

www.craigslist.org in Philadelphia (PA) lists 30 Bianchi bikes, various styles, that you might want to check out. Do you have www.craigslist.org in Australia?

How about e-bay?

Just a thought.

Good luck in your quest.

Thanks for your reply. No we do not have Craigslist in Australia, however I will check out the site you are reffering to tonight. I have just set out on my quest to attain a frame that is my size and there is nothing on ebay at the moment. I will be persisting and hopefully something will come up..... Adam
