| I shot a roll of Kodak film on Saturday, 31 October, 2009. This one is of the ramp area where the local BMX crew does stunts. It wasn't really designed as a ramp park for bikes, But "any port in a storm" Click on the icon below: |
| This one shows the bike I've been Riding. It looks like a normal Moutain Bike, except it has BMX handlebars, and a set of boxes, which were made (recycled) from Corrugated Plastic, which I acquired the day after Election Day of last year. Now, it's election day again today, and I also wanted to give you all another heads up. Get some of those Election Campaign signs TOMORROW MORNING, early, or late at night tonite, after the polls close. The Corrugated Plastic makes excellent hard panniers, someone even said he thought this bike was a Harley, looking from the rear. And these boxes also hold a spare shirt, a membership roster for the Glen Cove Bicycle Club, a cigar, a roll of tape, an air pump, and a tool kit. Plus I like to pick up a ten pound bag of potatoes at the local supermarket. Click on the icon, or copy and paste: http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q119/hotbike/20_18A.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q119/hotbike/22_20A.jpg |
| This is an overhead view of the Corrugated Plastic Box. You can see the way I mounted a water bottle cage, and I used a clamp from a wire mesh basket that ripped apart, to mount the new box, the rear wall is three layers thick, and the bottom has a piece of quarter inch aircraft plywood, which abuts the stem, to prevent the box from sagging or drooping. Take note of the details, people will respect you more if you pay attention to detail; you can also see in this picture the "Old School" notebook, which contains the names and email addresses of the members of the newly reorganized Glen Cove Bicycle Club. There is a small piece of corrugated plastic, with the grain going against the grain of the box-side, acting as a backer for the water bottle cage mount, also I used fender washers, and those nuts with the nylon insert so they don't loosen. There is also a pencil taped to the inside of the box. More pictures were also posted at bikeforums.net , in the Utility biking forum. |

| I have uploaded portions of my Human Powered Vehicle Video Archive to Youtube. You can copy and paste, or try clicking on the icons: Downhill runs, the Type 5 HPV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SIiCAewo48 Sorry it took so long, but the tape was VHS, and I had to wait until recently to get a machine that could transfer VHS to DVD. I think the tape has a 1989 date on it, could it have been that long? |

| i am trying to make a homemade styrofoam cutter and i have tried everything and nothing seems to work can anybody tell me how to make one easy and quick thank you by: 65.80.20.126 |
| There are two things you can do. Either get a different kind of styrofoam, or make a "hot wire" knife. The hot-wire knife can be dangerous. It might be too dangerous for you to use. The hot-wire knife is made of a length of heater wire, from a hair-dryer or a toaster. It's dangerous because it is red-hot, and because it has electricity running through it- you could get burned, electrocuted, or both. I recommend using building insulation, available at any lumberyard. Make sure you get the colored kind, because the white styrofoam is too crumbly. Lowriders, Customs, Etc.: Larz Anderson Bicycle Swap Meet & Show 2009

| It's official. The 2009 Larz Anderson Bicycle Show & Swap Meet is scheduled for Sunday, August 9th at the Larz Anderson Museum of Transportation @ 15 Newton Street., Brookline, MA. As of last year the Museum of Transportation has agreed to let us open a full swap meet as well as a concourse for the show bikes, so we look forward to having a fun event this year. Sign up time for the swap meet will begin at 8:00AM, and the bicycle concourse sign up time at 9:00AM. Show time will be from 10:00AM-2:00PM. As in the past this is an all encompassing event with cycles ranging from early antique period, early to modern lightweight, balloon tire and more. If it's anu intersting cycle no matter what period, you're invited to bring it along to show. The swap meet spaces are the same as always, $25.00 for a 10X10 foot space, with an extra charge of $10 for table rental if you need one. Each space includes two passes to the show. There will be no charge to enter the bicycle concourse other than the entry charge to attend the show. We are dedicating this years show to two very special people who past away within recent times, Sheldon Brown & Jack Kroll. Most CR member know of Sheldon Brown, Jack Kroll was a very good friend of the Larz Anderson Show. He was the sole proprietor and restorer of the Columbia Bicycle Museum in Westfield, MA. We usually give out best of show trophies as a Chairmans Award. From this year forward two Chairmans awards will be given out in memory of both Sheldon Brown & Jack Kroll. For the swap meet we encourage Pre-Registration. Dale Brown of the CR List will be updating the website that he created for our show with an up to date registration sheet within a few days. We will publish the websites URL within a few days. A special thank you to Dale Brown for all of his help !! We are looking for a few volunteers to help out with show registration, and also to do a few interesting lectures. If interested please contact me by email @ hetchinspete1@yahoo.com. MISC: Larz Anderson Bicycle Swap Meet & Show

| Hello all, Contrary to rumors going around, the LARZ ANDERSON BICYCLE SHOW & SWAP MEET is a happening event this year and scheduled for August as always, but since Cirque comes before Larz, out of respect for the great group that hosts Cirque, we purposely say little about LARZ until after Circue. As usual the show will be on a Sunday, but because we've not decided on a date the show is not on the Larz Anderson Museums lawn events schedule as yet, but most likely the show will be scheduled for Sunday August 9th. We're hoping to get this show back to where it was several years ago as one of the premier Vintage Cycling events that everone wants to attend. Is recent years Larz has not been quite the same, mostly because former staff at the Museum decided to cancel the Swap Meet against the wishes & objections of both Maurice and myself. But the Museum has a completely new, supportive & enthuisiastic staff that are in favor of a swap meet. Again this years show will be as always an all inclusive Vintage Show for all eras of cycling, and we encourage you to bring any era bicycle to our show. We are a little late in planning due to health issues I've been undergoing these past six weeks, but I'm back on my feet and we're looking forward to a better than ever year at Larz. If anyone in the New England area would like to volunteer their help with Larz, or presenting a lecture it would be greatly appreciated !! More information will follow in the coming weeks. Best regards from the both of us !! Maurice Bresnahan & Peter Naiman Milwaukee, WI & Boston Mass, USA by: 69.210.32.64 |

| I found an old murray in a dumpster, it looks just like a stingray and i'm gonna build it up as a lowrider, but it had what i assume are the original tires and they are pretty sweet, but i cant find any info on them anywhere... the rear is a slick, and the front is just a normal tire and they both say "THE FAST ONE sport tire" on them. Any info on these would be greatly appreciated... by: 198.179.227.58 |
