MISC:   JC Higgins Bike posted by: Leslie on 4/6/2009 at 12:18:23 PM
I'm about to buy a JC Higgins stingray-type of bike. I haven't seen it yet and didn't have any luck trying to attach it's picture. It's a green girl's single speed. Does anyone know when this might have been produced or anything about this bike?
Thanks much,
Leslie

We have an older tandem bicycle which needs work. It is a Hiawatha, either made by or sold for Gambles. It seems as though it was made in the 50's or early 60's. It needs new seats, chains, and tires and rims. The tires are 26 x 1.75. We want to buy large white wall tires for it.

We would actually like to be able to do a simple restoration (no painting). If you know anyone who would work on this bike for us we would appreciate the help. We live in Waukesha and would like to have it fixed locally to make it easier. It will be given to our daughter who was recently married. I have pictures available.
Thanks so much.

AGE / VALUE:   murray?? tires... posted by: scumDuggery on 3/16/2009 at 12:20:05 PM
I found an old murray that looks just like a stingray in a dumpster, and it had what i'm assuming were the original tires but i cant find any info on them anywhere. They are in good shape for their age... the rear is a slick and the front is a normal tire, but they both say "THE FAST ONE sport tire" on them. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Apparently it is a Murray Wildcat, but i still cant find any record of these tires even existing... I figured if they were original there would be some info on them... not sure if that hlps or not, but i would love to know more about the bike and these tires.

Does anyone have any information or know anything about this bike? Its a American Flyer muscle bike. Three speed stick shift,Rust in color 20x175 front 20x2.125 rear tires, banana seat and monkee bars. I've tried to do some homework over the past few years. I have never seen another like it. When I bought it i was told it was rare. So rare that it could't be found on the internet? I can send anyone picture who asks. Help me, it's driving me nuts by now.

Thank You
Peter

They were made for the 1994 Christmas season and sold for $249.00. at K-Mart. The price was way too high and they were a dud. I bought two of them for $99.00 each, in January 1995. one assembled and one still in the box. I recently sold the assembled one, still like new, for $90.00.I'll keep the other one for any grandkids. For what it's worth, you may want to put it away for his kids. Pat
