AGE / VALUE:What kind of bike is this? posted by: owen on 6/19/2008 at 5:58:50 PM
A friend gave me this bike. I'm going to sand-blast the frame and powder-coat it. I'd like to identify the make/model to make it easier to find parts. It has two stickers and a serial number. One sticker says "Jet-Star" another says "Rallye Sport Made in Germany" The serial number has the word OK inside a triangle, then the numbers 3340556 (as far as I can tell) Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated! =)

WANTED:Mr. America Bike posted by: Kriss on 6/13/2008 at 9:23:17 PM
When I was a kid back in the early 70's, I had a red white and blue bike called Mr. America, said so right on the chain guard. I believe it may have been a Huffy, but I'm not sure. I have been looking for many years for information, pictures or an actual bike! If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks all!

I have the Miss America girls stingray bike your talking about in your inquiry. It was sold by Coast to Coast stores. The bicycle is complete and rates about 7 out of 10 for condition. Shoot me a price range of what your looking at paying and I'll gladly send some pictures if you want.

MISC:Horn Tanks posted by: Steve Ritter on 6/13/2008 at 4:22:03 PM
Hi,I just bought a 1969 StingRay frame to restore. I got an idea that it would look cool painted like a Black Phantom. I would call it a Phantom StingRay. My question is was there ever a horn tank made to fit a StingRay? If not I will settle for the Phantom colors
Thanks
Steve

AGE / VALUE:Schwinn Stingray ID posted by: H Porter on 6/8/2008 at 4:49:34 AM
I have a Schwinn Stingray bike. S/N HN54788 From my research it was made in Aug. 1977. Is that correct? It has a black back fender and black handle bars with a cross piece and a black banana seat with Schwinn on the side in white. A large square reflector on the back fender. No front fender. 20" tires. 36 spokes on the back wheel. Cannot tell what color it was it was spray painted silver. No picture at this time. What can anyone tell me about this bike. It is in rough shape but everything seems to function.

Sounds like you have came across a Schwinn "tornado" BMX style sting-ray. It used the same sting-ray frame as years past; but updated the handlebars, seat,& fenders to BMX style specs. They did have a small plastic tank and number board on the front. If you want this style bike then the parts can be hard to come by; but you would have a really cool version of the latter sting-rays. Most of the time they make good parts bikes or use the frame to build a regular sting-ray

AGE / VALUE:Dragster posted by: Julia on 6/2/2008 at 9:47:27 AM
Hi! I have been referencing this site for awhile but this is my first posting. I just picked up a bike that I am having real trouble figuring out. It's a lime grean with white writing. It says "dragster" across the chain guard. There are chains of flowers on the fenders and style-wise it looks just like a Schwinn Fair Lady. It's got a black banana seat and really high ape hangers. Except the medallion on the front says "ALL PRO." I can't find anything on this. Anyone know?

I'm assuming that it's a girls bike. The bike is made by Huffy bicycle company for KMART stores. The KMART store brand of bicycles was ALL-PRO. They are not valuable but they are neat. I have the fenders and chainguard from one just like yours that was the same color. Complete and in full working order, with decent paint, decals, and seat and chrome, your bike is worth approximately $70.00

need help, have schwinn bike looks like early stingray 20" has laerge head badge, old german rims, rear rim has some sort of spicket to add grease i guess,on the hub. high broad handlebars, ugly weird gooseneck. tried to change to 70's style but gooseneck was to narrow, wouldnt tighten. the nut on top of forks is different than 60's / 70's style too its taller. also the darts on forks appear to be hand painted larger than 70's style and off center too. its a cool bike got it at rose bowl flea market. has no chainguard. am really puzzled if stingrays didnt come out till 64/65 than what is this bike serial# L800053? anyways i found a chainguard for early stingray it fits...where ther other muscle bikes before stingray? thanks for your help..

WANTED:dragstripper 3 speed info posted by: Adam on 5/13/2008 at 10:54:25 PM
I need information for my early iverson dragstripper 3 speed bike. The original color appears to be a sky blue teal. I like the color and want to paint it that color but don't know for certain if it is correct. The seat and grips are purple as I was going to paint the bike purple because I know this is a correct color. If you have any information on decals/stickers, correct colors, correct seats, grips and petals, please let me know. I would like to restore this bike, preferrably in teal if possible. I also need a correct front fender for it.

To figure out it's age, look up the serial number under the charts in the General Resources section.
To figure out it's value, click on the Price Guide at the top of this page.

AGE / VALUE:Chopper posted by: Andrew on 5/10/2008 at 1:58:21 AM
I have an original old Chopper push bike that was given to me about 20-years ago so I am thinking it must be around 30-years old. It looks like a copy of a Raleigh Chopper made in Taiwan by Lucky Five Bestcycle. It has the chainguard and front brake assembly missing but otherwise is very original including the Lubao 3-speed changer. The chrome is sad and the paint is dull but the seat is good. Is it worth anything as is and is it worth doing up? I have not seen another one the same apart from the Raleigh Choppers on Ebay.
