Hiya,
Your right about the built date and no you cannot tell what model it is from the serial number. The only Stingrays built in 1975 were....Sting-Ray (1-speed and 5-speed) in Flamboyant Red or Yellow. It could of been built for the 1976 market which means it could be one of these!...... Sting-Ray (1-speed, 3-speed and 5-speed) in Flamboyant Red, Sky Blue, White (with Bicentennial decals) or Yellow.

The '76 R/W/B scheme was carried out on most Schwinn models from that year. It does add value to your stingray since the color scheme was one year only and were not produced in big numbers

AGE / VALUE:Green Murray Wildcat 3 Speed posted by: JimDes on 4/18/2008 at 4:51:13 PM
I had what I beleive to be a Murray Wildcat 3 Speed when I was a kid. It had chrome fenders and a white "T" shifter about midpoint of the backbone. The brake and shift cables were white as well. The seat and frame were metallic green and it had metallic green grips.
There were chrome caps on the side rails to the backbone, right beside the head. If anyone has a picture of such a bike I would sure appreciate it. If you have one for sale, I would be extremely interested in purchasing it.
Thanks a bunch.

WANTED:70-72 Sears Screamer 2 posted by: Donald on 4/17/2008 at 3:29:25 PM
Hi. I am new here. So, I am quite sorry if my post has been beaten to death already. I've read a few references here to my query, but just thought I'd ask anyway. I had a '70-'72 Sears Screamer 2. My model had the mag wheel and the coaster brake with the gear shift brake mounted on the top of the frame. The paint was the yellow/green fade model with the upright handlebars and small front tire. The question is: Where may I find one for sale? I'd really like to own one.

Thanks for any help! I do appreciate it in advance.

Sorry for the secound post so i was wrong they stoped production in 1974 so i guess what i am asking is this an early release for the year being that it came out in Jan of 74 Could it of came out before they banned the shifter.

RE:AGE / VALUE:Need some help on an Orange Krate posted by tha bike farmer on 5/28/2008 at 11:26:51 AM
you are correct. the shifters were banned by the government in Feb of 1974. I'm sure a few Krates got out with the stick shifters attached.

MISC:vista coronet Girls Bicycle posted by: Cody on 4/4/2008 at 2:20:49 PM
I have a bicycle possibly a late 60's schwinn, It reads Vista Coronet on the chain guard. I am in the process of customizing this bike and want to disassemble the entire machine but can not find the pin in which holds the built in kickstand in after you compress the spring. There is not even a hole drilled in the bottom bracket for a pin to come out. WHat is going on? IF you could email me at newport1990@dejazzd.com with any help it would be greatly appriciated. Thank you.
