AGE / VALUE:   Question about schwinn stingray stardust posted by: Mike on 7/28/2007 at 1:13:37 PM
I was GIVEN a mint condition green stardust last night. My friend told me that some plastic was just recently removed from the unscratched seat. The back tire is crap but there are no chips on the paint, fenders are straight, grips are not worn, the brake cables havent even cracked yet. Was 1967 the only year of the stardust stingray? And is this bike worth anything compared to the krates?

MISC:   Schwinn Black Stingray Deluxe posted by: D. on 7/21/2007 at 7:58:38 PM
Any info would be helpful. I have a Black Schwinn Stingray Deluxe. It has not been repainted. Everything on the bike is original. It is from Tucson, Arizona. Serial number C(Maybe G. Can't tell without removing the back wheel) 52380. I think it is a 1967?. Could this be a promotional color? The paint is badly chipped and scratched in areas so you can see it is original. I can't find any info on the web.Thank you for any help.

MISC:   Can this Craigslist add be real? Swinger posted by: Lainie on 7/19/2007 at 12:45:38 PM
I came across this add on my local Craigslist. This bike looks too new to be vintage, but I'm wondering if anyone knows if these are being re-popped. If it is vintage, it must be "new old stock". It just looks too shiny to be authentic. Any opinions?
Here is a link to the add.

I BELIEVE THAT IT IS AN ORIGINAL, I NEVER HEARD OF THAT BIKE BEING REPRODUCED. I HAVE BIKES FROM THE 60,S AND 70,S THAT ARE IN EXCELLENT SHAPE.IF YOU TAKE GOOD CARE OF A BIKE. IT WILL LOOK GOOD FOREVER.

Yep, I think that is a real bike. I saw the add also. There are a few different "Eliminator" frame Murrays out. Never heard of the JC Penny version. I would give my left, no right gonad for that bike. If it is still around in a month or so I am going to try and buy it. They guy who owned it seems really nice too.

I'm not sure I'm in the right area here, but maybe someone can help. In the garage I have a pink Schwinn banana seat bike, which might be a Fairl Lady Sting Ray. Or maybe not. Perhaps from the eighties? The serial # is SC105654. Can anyone help me ID this bike? Any value? Thanks.

I have a 1966 fastback, 5 speed with skinny tires and rims. I put a springer front end on, and I want to know if I can use tires and rims off the Krate bikes. Will they fit? Also, what is the major difference between the fastbacks and the krates? Thanks, Tim

I have had one since I was 8 or 9. I am curious to see:
A) what it's worth,
B) how to find parts to restore it,
C)I'd also like to see the model listed here on the amf chart..(i don't see it).

I know it's ultra rare, that likenesses cannot be seen on the internet. I almost had to donate it, but I ran a check to see what it may be worth. I know it's in the $ thousands+ category.. I will keep you all posted. I need to get a digital camera or something to send the pic.
