AGE / VALUE:   Last year of the Huffy Rail Muscle Bike posted by: R. Ski on 7/27/2006 at 1:12:05 AM
I had a 1966 Huffy Rail muscle bike which I'm certain was the first year of production. Can anyone tell me the last year the Rail was produced? Thank you for your time.

Thanks Richard for taking the time to answer my qustion about the Rail. I figured the last year Huffy made the twin top rail frame was in the early 70s. Since that frame has a dated look, I am suprised that it would have lasted into the 80s. As stated in my previous message, I had received a 66 Rail for Christmas when I was 8. I am now restoring a 67 and was curious as to the finale year. Again Thanks...Bob

AGE / VALUE:   Vintage Bike ID & Value posted by: Jan on 7/26/2006 at 11:57:44 PM
I have inherited a vintage bicycle and am trying to identify it's make and model, and get a rough idea of it's value. The worn and faded sticker looks like it says "AMF" and from photos on the Internet, I think it may be a Renegade. It was probably originally purchased around 1968 or so. I have a couple of photos, but I'm not sure where to post them, as I don't have a web site. Can someone help me with this? I appreciate it - I need to find it's value very soon.
Thank you,
Jan

That serial number would make it a 1967 and it should have a stik-shift shifter.

In June '67, the 'summer of love' as well as the month 'F' stands for, stik shifters were standard on plain and Ram's Horn Fastbacks.

I'm not aware of any serial number charts for Sears bicycles, but you can look at the Sears Screamers in the picture database. They are dated and and you find one the matches your paint scheme, you'll know the year.

I checked the frame and the original number I found stamped on it is the only one I can find. Any suggestions ? Its definitely a Sears Screamer. Was this frame used for any other Sears bike ???

I would use plain Singer Sewing Machine lubricant, or you could take the hub apart (laing out the pieces in the same order) and repack it.
