AGE / VALUE:   1963 Coppertone Sting Ray posted by: Michael Vannoy on 5/28/2006 at 10:01:24 AM
I posted my 63 Sting Ray on Ebay this week, 5-26-2006. I never would had thought in a million years this bike would get this much attention compared to a Disc brake Krate. I hope the new owner gets a chance to restore & enjoy it....unlike I did. Now I can enjoy a Krate sitting up in my attic needing much more attention.

Cheers people!

Hi - I used to have a CCM Mustang Marauder when I was a kid. Orange with really cool handlebars that bent right around. I've never seen anything like it and would love to get ahold of one to restore. What does yours look like and how much are you asking?

The grey ghost is one of the rarer models of krate bikes. if its a 5 speed and in complete original good condition like you say, it could be worth over $1000 to the right person.

I just bought a what I think is a VINTAGE Schwinn Sting Ray "RUN A BOUT" and I can't find a serial number on it and was wondering how I could date it!?

RE:AGE / VALUE:   Sting Ray Run-A-Bout posted by rod on 5/26/2006 at 7:50:34 PM
The rear left dropout location will determine its date of manufacture from 1965 to pre-March 1970 before Schwinn's double-letter/five-digit serial# system was relocated to the headtube w/ an added sixth digit after April '70 to '83; the 1st letter stands for the month while the 2nd letter stands for the year, and you can click on to the serial# charts on this site. Good luck!

You'll find pictures in the picture database, and search the musclebike archives for details on the old F5s.
