A lot of different brands looked like that. They may have all been made by the same company.

Look at the "Venture" full suspension BMX bike in the picture database here.

AGE / VALUE:   Sturmey Archer Three Speed Hub posted by: Nick on 6/12/2005 at 5:26:31 PM
Hello i am in need of some help with my sturmey archer three speed hub. It dates back to 1969 and it's the AW model. There is a very annoying squeking noise comming from the hub in first and third gear. I lube the hub every other week so it can't be a lack of lubrication. Also, the hud does not want to stay in second gear. It pops out of gear into a neutral-type gear at random. When in third gear, and crusing along, the hub makes a grinding noise when i stop pedaling.

If you have any information on why my hub has all of these problems, or you have any tips to how i can fix it, please reply.

Thanks,
Nick

Popping out of gear can simply mean you need to adjust the cable. But grinding noises.. that probably means something much worse.

AGE / VALUE:   Info on Schwinn Speedster muscle bike? posted by: Larry T. on 6/11/2005 at 11:42:40 AM
I just purchased a 1979? Schwinn Speedster five speed muscle bike. It looks like a stingray, with banana seat and sissy bar, but has 24 inch wheels. Rear tire is like a slick. Condition is excellent. Did Schwinn make these bikes or is this something that someone put together?

I'm not sure of the 24" musclebike form, but Speedsters in 26" lightweight form were definitely made (I have a '74 3-speed).

I came across a Stingray Pixie II at a garage sale and came on here to find out a little about it but only found two pix of a Pixie. Does ayone know when the Pixie II was made? It has a banana seat unlike the two Pixie's pictured here. Any info is appreciated. I also have a Lil Tiger if you have info on that as well. Thanks.

Possibly in the late-60's/early-70's era; if you're still uncertain, you can check out the serial #'s on this site to determine the month & year of the Pixie II and Lil Tiger; Serial #'s stamped on the rear left dropout are from 1969-prior, and the those stamped on the headtube are from 1970 & up.

AGE / VALUE:   My 68 Black Fastback posted by: D. Donley on 5/30/2005 at 2:17:39 AM
I'm getting ready to clean-up/restore my good old Stingray. I am wondering about something. Mine has a european made "sprint" front sprocket that I have never seen on any other Fastack instead of the mag style sprocket. Anyone know about this? I loved this bike so much, I used to wax it. The one part I know I need is a front fender. If anyone is interested I'll post a picture.

I've seen them in the US with a sprint sprocket and sprint derailleur. I think the earlier Fastbacks were set up this way. You might find something in the "Sting-Ray Summary" on this site.

AGE / VALUE:   CCM Cougar posted by: Mark R. on 5/26/2005 at 4:36:20 AM
The bike co-op where I volunteer recently received a CCM Cougar (girls frame). I don't know much about this sort of bike, but it's obviously a Canadian imitation of the Schwinn bikes. This one seems all original, though in med. rough shape. It's a greenish yellow in colour, and the chainguard has paw prints on it. The 3-speed Sturmey shifter mounts on the top tube, though it is the reg. kind, not the stickshift, and seems like it was there from the beginning (al cables and housgins sems original).

There sems to be no info on this bike on the Net, so I was wondering if anyone here knew anything about them. The bike works, and just needs some TLC, so we'll fix it up and sell it off, as I doubt it's worth much, but it'd still be nice to find any info on it.

Thanks,
Mark

Well, it now seems to be worth something to somebody! I just had an offer of $100 as is for the little beast. Oh, and I had the name wrong - it's a CCM Cheetah, not Cougar (insert female "cougar" joke at own risk).
