AGE / VALUE:Is it a Schwinn or a Huffy or something else? posted by: David on 6/17/2009 at 7:14:19 AM
I have a 20" boys bike that looks a lot like a Schwinn stingray. It has a s/n on the steer tube of the frame, written sideways, HC1079077. Can anyone help me identify what it is? It has a wide slick Carlisle rear tire and a black banana seat that both look original. No other stickers or markings but i think they were removed. Someone told me that a bracket on the frame and the fact that the s/n is not on the rear drop that it is not a Schwinn. Thanks for helping me out!!

Never heard of a Roadmaster Debutante.
There was a SCHWINN Debutante.
Also, I'm not aware of a list of Roadmaster serial number/date info.

MISC:Larz Anderson Bicycle Swap Meet & Show 2009 posted by: Peter Naiman on 6/13/2009 at 3:49:47 PM
It's official. The 2009 Larz Anderson Bicycle Show & Swap Meet is scheduled for Sunday, August 9th at the Larz Anderson Museum of Transportation @ 15 Newton Street., Brookline, MA. As of last year the Museum of Transportation has agreed to let us open a full swap meet as well as a concourse for the show bikes, so we look forward to having a fun event this year.

Sign up time for the swap meet will begin at 8:00AM, and the bicycle concourse sign up time at 9:00AM. Show time will be from 10:00AM-2:00PM. As in the past this is an all encompassing event with cycles ranging from early antique period, early to modern lightweight, balloon tire and more. If it's anu intersting cycle no matter what period, you're invited to bring it along to show.

The swap meet spaces are the same as always, $25.00 for a 10X10 foot space, with an extra charge of $10 for table rental if you need one. Each space includes two passes to the show. There will be no charge to enter the bicycle concourse other than the entry charge to attend the show.

We are dedicating this years show to two very special people who past away within recent times, Sheldon Brown & Jack Kroll. Most CR member know of Sheldon Brown, Jack Kroll was a very good friend of the Larz Anderson Show. He was the sole proprietor and restorer of the Columbia Bicycle Museum in Westfield, MA. We usually give out best of show trophies as a Chairmans Award. From this year forward two Chairmans awards will be given out in memory of both Sheldon Brown & Jack Kroll.

For the swap meet we encourage Pre-Registration. Dale Brown of the CR List will be updating the website that he created for our show with an up to date registration sheet within a few days. We will publish the websites URL within a few days. A special thank you to Dale Brown for all of his help !!

We are looking for a few volunteers to help out with show registration, and also to do a few interesting lectures. If interested please contact me by email @ hetchinspete1@yahoo.com.

Thank you,
Peter Naiman

AGE / VALUE:   Schwinn Lil' Tiger posted by: Bob B. on 6/1/2009 at 6:04:09 PM
Does anyone know where I can get a great condition seat for a vintage Schwinn Lil' Tiger? It's a white colored banana seat with silver sparkles throughout the pattern. Also may need a front rim for it as well since I believe it can't be adjusted.
Thanks

Does anyone know where I can find what the date code pertains to on the Schwinn Krate tires? They're the 16" superior front and the 20" rear slick.

I have a Schwinn Superior road bike frame set that I built in my younger days; how do I found out if it is worth any thing? It is made out of 531 tubing and was built around the 1978 to 1980 time frame.

Do you have any pictures you can post. Maybe a link to the Ebay auction. I have not heard of a Hawk either but it might be another manufacturer with different badging. I would really like to see it because I like the "off brand" bikes.

Cheers,

Tommy

Here it is. It`s in pretty good condition.
Any idea how old it could be? Is there any way to determine the age of it?

AGE / VALUE:Hercules (Raleigh) 20" boys bike posted by: Tommy on 5/16/2009 at 9:54:33 AM
I just bought a bike on ebay and there are some interesting things I am finding about the bike. I would like to know as much as I can find out if anyone can help. It is a 20" boys bike. It has apehangers like a musclebike but I have not seen another like it yet. It is a Raleigh made Hercules serial # A-5692. It has Resilion hubs and crank, Dunlop 20x1 3/8 rims, Goodyear tires, Brampton pedals. These are the only names and numbers I can find on the bike. I am posting a link to the Ebay auction for pictures.

MISC:rz Anderson Bicycle Swap Meet & Show posted by: Peter Naiman on 5/11/2009 at 5:37:20 PM
Hello all,

Contrary to rumors going around, the LARZ ANDERSON BICYCLE SHOW & SWAP MEET is a happening event this year and scheduled for August as always, but since Cirque comes before Larz, out of respect for the great group that hosts Cirque, we purposely say little about LARZ until after Circue.

As usual the show will be on a Sunday, but because we've not decided on a date the show is not on the Larz Anderson Museums lawn events schedule as yet, but most likely the show will be scheduled for Sunday August 9th.

We're hoping to get this show back to where it was several years ago as one of the premier Vintage Cycling events that everone wants to attend. Is recent years Larz has not been quite the same, mostly because former staff at the Museum decided to cancel the Swap Meet against the wishes & objections of both Maurice and myself. But the Museum has a completely new, supportive & enthuisiastic staff that are in favor of a swap meet.

Again this years show will be as always an all inclusive Vintage Show for all eras of cycling, and we encourage you to bring any era bicycle to our show. We are a little late in planning due to health issues I've been undergoing these past six weeks, but I'm back on my feet and we're looking forward to a better than ever year at Larz.

If anyone in the New England area would like to volunteer their help with Larz, or presenting a lecture it would be greatly appreciated !!

More information will follow in the coming weeks.

Best regards from the both of us !!
