I bought a used red Western Flyer girls bike for my niece about almost 6 years ago at a Salvation Army store in Virginia. It says "Grand Trophy" on the chain guard. Because niece lives in Idaho, have been unable to get to her. So I took it with me to the Sinai desert where I've been posted for nearly one year with MFO (see www.mfo.org). I've heard a couple comments about it being a "classic." I don't know if this is true, but been unable to find this bike on the internet, or on ebay. It has excellent, rugged, thick rubber whitewall tires, made in Taiwan. Can anyone tell me more about this bike ?

Thanks

MISC:   Brake Lever posted by: DeCourcy on 4/8/2003 at 1:15:28 AM
Does anyone know what bike this was? The first bike I had was a used one in about 1960. The only detail that I remember about it was that it had a Lever up front somewhere that connected to the brakes. To stop, you had to take your right foot off the pedal and put it on this lever and press that to stop.
Anyone ever seen one like that?
