I recently bought a Velux "Special Road Racer" at a yard sale. An internet search of Velux has been fruitless. I need help locating the manufacturer so that I can get a manual and other technical data. Any assistance would be most appreciated.

MISC:   For those who read the Schwinn Forums: posted by: Bobby ( You know who I am) on 8/21/2002 at 2:57:47 AM
This is a message to those who read the Schwinn Forums.

As a good portion of you already know, I was banned from the Schwinn Forums on Sunday evening due to some profanity, and most importantly, my revealing of Pacific breaking a contract/promise with Schwinn dealers on the sale of Schwinn bikes in retail stores. My mentioning of this pushed them over the edge, and after the post was deleted, I was banned. They then removed every post I ever wrote on the forums. I had told this to a fellow member, and he made a post about it. I read a decent amount of the replies to it and was in the middle of writing a long apology letter to member Rubengo, when my IP address was banned, preventing me from visiting the forums at all on this computer. I will take care of that, but in the meantime please read this:

I know my profanity and straightforward ways of writing have offended many members. I come from a family that curses all of the time, and you get used to it. Not that that is a good reason, but more of an explanation. However, I was informed by the moderator that there had been multiple complaints about me. None of which I was ever informed of when they happened. Most of you are adults, if you can't just tell me you're problem, you need help. For the most part, I am willing to apologize and fix the problem myself. Very, very, very few of my messages are meant to be hurtful or rude, but sometimes time constraints, my poor typing abilities, and just how frustrated I am at the current time will all affect the way it comes out. We all have experienced that problem. Mixed messages. Also, I have gotten tired of people who want to know the value of everything, whether it's for sale or not. Luvmyviolet663s put it best, "If the price makes both buyer and seller happy, then it's a good price". At least I belive he said that, or something similar. About the Y: I almost ended up in a mental institution, thanks to the untrained people and dropouts at the Y. So I am slightly predjudiced to them. Especially because they did nothing. I won't go into details. It just makes me frustrated to think of it. And, Johnny Sting-ray, you've got a big mouth too, so watch what you say about others.

Once again, if you have a problem, e-mail me, don't whine to the admin.

All the juvie behavior almost ruined the old Schwinn site. You Bobby were one of the big culprits. You trash people now, your gone. I like that. You pee on Schwinn's carpet, your gone. I like that too. Instead of excusing your bad behavoir and blaming it on your upbringing, learn a lesson from Schwinn's actions. Doesn't seem like you have, based on your comment about fixing your banned IP problem.

MISC:   Sears Tricycle posted by: bike lover on 7/18/2002 at 7:41:07 PM
I recently accuried a Sears Tricycle and would like to find out the Age and approx. Value.
Below is the info I have on my bike and a like to pictures or it. Any info would help

Sears Roebuck & Co. Tricycle
There are 2 seial numbers
On back left fork Number 2C404667
On what I think is called the bottom Bracket (under the crank bearings)? Number is not all visible bad stamp on bottom of numbers but it is Number 507-459450 or 597-459459

Candy Blue with 4 diamond and stripes pattern on chainguard.
On seat post tube there are black, white, orange, red horizontal stripes then a horzizontal checkerboard pattern, then vertical stripes of orange, red and blue, then the checkerboard and stipes again on the bottom.

Sturmey Archer Right Hand grip shifter, I think 3 speed shift at rear left whell hub. Shift gears are inclosed in hub.
Front brake on left hand goed to front caliper says Excel Racfer. And has coaster brake.
Front tire Goodyear Speedway "175" 24 x 1.75
Rear tires Schwinn Spitfire 24 x 1.75
Seat Plate bolt says Troyer seat in perfect cond.
Ape hanger handlebars, wide like 60's Schwinn StingRays
Large basket in rear between tires.

SWAP MEETS:   2nd Annual Kansas City Bicycle & scooter swap meet. posted by: Calvert on 7/18/2002 at 4:09:49 AM
Just a reminder....it's now 1 1/2 weeks away.
Sunday June 28th at 6am

Last year's event was an enormous success.

El Torreon (Kansas City) Bicycle Swap Meet page:
http://hometown.aol.com/cycletruck/myhomepage/business.html

I'll be there primarily looking for old touring and light weight stuff but last year's turnout was heavily in favor of the Ballooner and Krater crowd. So I may bring those mid-thirties aluminum Monark parts I've been meaning to sell for my aunt. There's a couple of Delta horn lights and s/s fenders with the original tail-lights. I still have sell the troxel girls streamlined saddle (i sold the Boys corresponding tool box saddle last year). She needs the money and I need to get this stuff out of my basement.

Seems like most of the shopping I do these days is on Ebay.
I really miss getting to meet old friends and actually handling the goods before parting with my hard-earned bucks.

I'm gonna try to get up to Alan Kinsey's long-enduring swap
in Des Moines later this year but meanwhile in the heat of the
summer, this swap in KC is the best in the MidWest.
We even have a Pub Cruise the night before.

Collectors and pickers from all over have been calling in
for directions and information so we've had to scramble
to arrange for more space.

Check out our Web Site for details
& let me know if you have further questions.

This is irrelevant to your swap meetsbut I was wondering if anyone has ever seen an add on motor for a bicycle? I had one back in about 1970. The motor bolted on above the pedels. Extension pedeals came with the kit. The drive sprocets were on the left side with a big sprocet bolted on to the spokes.(poor idea, wrecked a few wheels) It would go about 35-40mph .It had a hand clutch and only one speed, started by pushing. The modified pedals were supposed to work but I didn't put them on. the existing pedels wouldn't turn around because of the motor. Sold it for $35. and never seen another one or heard about another one. Any one out there has any info. on such a contraption , let me know. (It was a factory model by the way)
