FOR SALE: Peugeot 12 Speed Bicycle
posted by: Kim Grazier
on 7/2/2008 at 10:00:27 AM
| My boyfriend was given a bicycle from a friend and would like to know how much it sold for originally. I have seen them on ebay and bidding usually started around 49.99 or 89.99. It is a PEUGEOT 12-speed bicycle that has Tube special Carbolite 103 by Peugeot France written on it. It says Suntour on some of the parts. It has some type of numbers like 2112070 and then P8 and a number or other characters after it - two characters or numbers. It has a black lion emblem in front under the handle bars and the rims say Rigidachrolux superifur - super record. I tried looking it up on the web but have had not luck. If you could give me some advice on how to find out the original price of this bike, that would be wonderful. My boyfriend has cleaned it up and is going to ride it, but is really interested in finding out the original price of this bike. If you do not know, could you maybe give me an idea of how to find out? Thank you very much, Kim. |

RE:FOR SALE: Peugeot 12 Speed Bicycle
posted by daniel masse on 7/30/2008 at 9:13:46 PM
| I bought my 1982 Peugeot Sprint for about $360 Canadian. And it has the orange color. I still have the receipt somewhere in the house...
By the way I still have the bike. However the lever that moves from the small gear to the big gear or from the big gear to the small gear did break. I replaced the broken part (the plastic) with Shimano part. Now seems to work fine.
I love this bike. I could go downhill at 110 km/h no problem. Original wheels. |

MISC: Larz Anderson Bicycle Show & Swap Meet
posted by: Peter Naiman
on 6/28/2008 at 9:17:23 AM
| As posted before the Larz Anderson Bicycle Show & Swap is coming again this year on Sunday July 20th on the grounds of the Larz Anderson Automobile Museum, 15 Newton st., Brookline, MA 02445.
Entry charge for adults is $10, for children $5.00. This covers entry into the show with bikes etc. There is no additional charge for entering bikes into the show or swap meet spaces.
The Museum has a new staff on board headed by Tyler Burns, Assistant Director, as of a few months ago, and for everyone involved in the show it brings a breath of fresh air to the Museum and our show.
Friend Maurice Bresnahan, and Co-Chairman of the show & Tyler Burns of the Museum have worked out an agreement so we can now bring back the swap meet this year, so we can now revive the show to its original format. There will be no charge for the swap meet. We ask that everyone try and pre-register for the swap, although folks can show up the morning of the show to register. Set up time for the swap starts at 8:00AM.
We have about twenty table that the Museum has on hand, but once those are gone we will be renting the tables from a local supplier. There will be a $10.00 per table charge to rent a table once the initial supply of the Museum are all signed up for.
Set up time for the Concourse or bike show will begin at 9:00AM, but for those attending the Vintage Ride, staff will be on hand to register the bikes by 8:30. Pre-registration is not necessary for the Concourse, but we would like to know what you are bringing so we can publish it as a preview to the list.
As we do every year, voting for the Concourse will be by "Popular Choice" voting of everyone attending as ours is not a Concourse de Elegance". A list of awards available will be posted in a few days.
VCC Member Chris Barbour will be leading a Vintage Ride departing the Museum grounds promptly at 9:00AM. Please be prepared uneven city pavement and crushed-stone carriage paths in the city’s 19th Century parks… 28mm tires minimum are recommended. The pace will be easy and unhurried, suitable for all bikes and riders. Meet at the Museum’s building entrance.
Also, for visitors who will arrive in Boston on Saturday and wish to have a bit of sightseeing, the Veteran-Cycle Club is happy to offer a more substantial ride that afternoon. Again, it would be unhurried and suitable for all bikes and any level of fitness. Anyone interested should be in touch with Chris Barbour at his email address by Friday morning, up to noon, July 18. This will be arranged by e-mail @ Christopher.Barbour@tufts.edu
To log onto our website for the show, please click onto the URL below. http://www.classicrendezvous.com/larzanderson.htm .
linked to the site is the "registration form" (which can be downloaded for printing) for the Concourse and the Swap Meet, plus links to many photo albums from prior shows, plus directions and contact information. If you want any additional information please write to me by email at my Yahoo address above or contact Susan at the Museum @ 617-522-6547.
Also as an addition for the show will be a display of extenct and rare automobiles which in prior years has included a few Stanley Steamer, Stutz Bearcats etc. This should all make for a very fun day for all.
Best regards, Peter Naiman

| Once more we are hosting a swap meet at the Annual Larz Anderson Bicyle Show & Swap at the Museum of Transportation at 15 Newton St., Brookline, MA 02445. There has been a positive change of staff at the Museum and for the forseeable future the swap will once again be an integral part of the show. Added to the show will also be a small grouping of extinct automobiles from the early 1900s, Stanley Steamers and more, plus the Museum will bring out there unique collection of antique cycles.
The show and swap are on Sunday July 20th, with show time from 10:00AM - 3;00PM, with set up time for the swap starting @ 8:00AM, and the bicycle show corral set up time starting at 9:00AM. A pre-show Vintage Ride is scheduled to leave the Museum at 8:30AM and follow the Emerald Necklace through scenic parts of Brookline and Newton.
For this year there will be "no charge" for a swap meet space of 10X10 feet. We are requesting pre-registration for the swap. Dale Brown has volunteered to host a website for us this year which will be online in a few more days. A registration form for the swap will be available online with the website. A big thank you goes out to Dale for his assistance !!
Entry fee to the show and swap $10 for adults and five dollars for children and seniors with no additional charges except for an $8.00 charge for rental of a table at the swap.
If you plan on attending the show and bringing a Vintage Bike for the bike corral, please email to me and let me know what you will be bringing. Voting for show awards in various categories will be popular choice as in prior years. Maurice Bresnahan and I will vote for Best of Show.
More information to be posted in the next few days. Maurice Bresnahan & I both look forward to seeing you at the show.
Regards, Peter Naiman Milwaukee, WI USA.

| Hello, I am trying to help my dad identify and value an adult trike from the mid to late 1950's to early 60's. He does not have a PC and cannot see the serial # himself, so I being 200 or so miles away am just trying to get an idea with some basic pics and values from that general era and type of bike. He would enjoy the printouts even if we don't find the exact one so if anyone has info or pics, feel free to send. His is blue and is a ladies, although I can't recall what a men's looks like if I've seen one!
Thank you to anyone for your help, H. Anna |

| Critical Mass takes place on the last Friday of every month. CM was originally designed to help raise awareness of cities' un-friendliness towards cyclists and alternate forms of transportation. CM DOES meet in the same location as previously described (Allen St).
The Sunday Night Bike Ride takes place every Sunday at midnight. This bike ride is for shuts and guggles - peeps get together, drink some beers, and cruise around town. |
