This would only be valuable if this was a big cheek model that is super cushy. Does this have the v groove down the middle or the anatomical cut out? Is this in buck tan? We need photos! Ed

MISC:   Voyageur 11.8 posted by: Brian on 9/24/2007 at 1:53:51 PM
Recently became reacquainted with a Schwinn Voyaguer 11.8 that I had not ridden in 20 plus years. It had been in storage and forgotten about and was never ridden much at all; I had upgraded from an old FUJI but never had much time to ride after that. Now I am just starting some short distance road riding and I wondered if the bike was worth upgrading to a more comfortable ride or if I am better off selling the thing and buying a new hybrid road bike. Other than dry-rotted original tires, the bike seems fine and the 27" frame seems like it is worthy of building off of. Since the bike is basically pristine, I suppose most collectors would consider it sacrilege to start changing out parts when the bike is ride-ready with all original parts but, I would like to consider mordernizing it a little. Newer seat, new shifters, brakes, rims. Is adding some of the more modern acoutrements worth it or am I better off purchasing something new? Would appreciate any input.

Thanks,

Brian.

Hello, I am looking for a late 1970s Schwinn spitfire cruiser? Can any one give me some ideas how to locate one or maybe know one that might be for sale? Thanks Joe

RE:FOR SALE:   Recycled Sports Swap Meet posted by Mike on 8/29/2007 at 3:57:21 AM
A Spitfire shouldn't be to hard to find, they made single and five speeds if I remember correctly. They were among the last of the Chicago built Schwinn's. Don't miss the swap meet...plenty of bikes being sold, vintage - riders -even new. Spread the word.....146 Lafayette rd.(Rt. 1) Seabrook, NH 1/4 South of Home Depot

FOR SALE:   July 14th KC Bikes for Tykes & Adults Shut Down posted by: Calvert on 7/7/2007 at 12:12:11 PM
Kansas City Bikes & Trikes for Tykes & Adults
Must close its doors. We're being evicted from our warehouse--it's being razed next month.

1415 IRON Street North Kansas City Warehouse district.
JULY 14th 8AM....Total clearance!!!

We have hundreds of bikes that must go now.

If we don't sell it or give it away it goes to the dumpster.
Yes, I know, but it's out of my hands.
Prices on all bikes are dirt low and are sold as is.
Some restored bikes remain but are going quickly--
they are not the only values in stock.
Many of the older bikes are loaded with
hard to find, barely-used, retro parts...
freewheels, Suntour parts, thumbshifters,
bottle cages, racks, saddles, long-reach
brakes for 650 wheel conversions, &c.

All proceeds go to paying our overhead
and for storage of our tools while the
organization is reformed.

Plenty Bicycle wonks will be on hand
to help folks find a bike that fits them.
