FOR SALE: King Lion Tandem Bike

My nephew was given an old King Lion Tandem bicycle. The bike looks like it could be 60 to 70 years old. I'm not a vintage bike collector and can not find anything surfing the net. Has anyone heard of this brand? Hong Kong is on one sticker. The tools and leather pouch on it is very old on it also. by: 75.38.110.144

hello, i have a schwinn town and country tandem. 3rd owner. from the info i found it's post war, 1948-1949, lady back style. It's in excellent original condition except new tires and brake cables. the crank sets are made in england, hubs in germany, seats from holland and a very heavy chicago frame. heavy duty spokes and rims, drum brakes, and single speed. great chrome fenders and chain guards(2), hand painted pin striping and schwinn logos. original decals. there are minor scuffs and scratches, but overall the bike is excellent condition. whats it worth? by: 24.16.251.233
These aren't exactly rare. I paid $350 for one I found on ebay about 5 years ago and I was the only bidder. I drove about 75 miles to pick it up. It was in pretty good shape, too; just scratches and a few rust patches. I think the delivery/pick up issue is what will make it hard to sell. It's a fun bike to ride. I built a new rear wheel with a Sturmey 3-speed drum brake hub and that's made a big diff. by: 216.15.114.27

Hello, I have recently bought a very old Columbia Tandem from a yard sale and it seems to be in decent shape. It cost me 100 dollars but since I know little about bikes, I wanted to know if I should sell it to someone who can restore it for a profit? Or is will it only be worth to just do it myself and have a cool old bike? Any help would be awsome since I dont know the model or exact year. Also I can post better pics if needed. Thank you.

Don't do anything but clean, grease and ride it,maybe new tires/tubes. The original paint and decals are cool and you'll destroy any collectible value it has by changing it. Don't use Windex on it!! It instantly removes silk screen graphics.Post some pics. from the beauty side,(the chainguard side). Pat by: 198.208.159.18

MISC: Unusual Tandem

I have a photo of an old prewar tandem that was owned by my great grandparents in the UK. It looks like two ordinary bicycles side by side that have been joined by several parallel bars to make them into one machine. My grandmother told me that they used to go on holiday from London to Exeter on that bike. On the photo my great grandparents are sitting on their own respectively joined bicycles and my grandmother (as a little girl) is sitting between them on what looks like a seating arrangement located on the bars that join the two bikes together. I have not seen a tandem like this anywhere. Each bike has its own front wheel and handlebars, so it would appear that if each rider had their own mind as to which way to go it may be a struggle for one to overpower the other. Probably why this design never took off. Could this be a 'one off' design made by some engineer, or were these tandems in production? Please email me at: samba@pamho.net if you have any clues as to the origins of such a bike. by: 117.201.105.2
There were and still are kits available to link two bikes in parallel (technically a sociable, not a tandem, which means fore and aft) with struts that bolt to both frames. I expect grandmother's machine had an idler linkage to make the steering at least possible. Here's my favorite hit from a search: http://www.helmets.org/fourwhel.htm by: 68.238.9.73

Hello I am in Birmingham UK and have an old folding bike I want to paint. She has no markings whatsoever, but looks incredibly like a 1970s 3 gear Royce Union folder. I can't get the second pedal and sprocket off and was told firstly that I needed a crank puller and then that she was a strange continental system? Can anyone help? Thanks Penny by: 86.136.215.225

Any thoughts on the quality of the old Columbia Twosome tandem? How does it compare with the Schwinn Twinn? I'm looking at an older green one as a project, and want to be happy with it when I'm done.
I posted a reply to you on thecabe. Good bike, not Schwinn quality but better than Huffy or Wards by: 198.208.159.18
Wow. You have a lot more of that one than I have of mine.Fenders, full chain guard, front brake. . . I've only started tearing this one down, and while I'm a little horrified at the finish of the welds, the thing seems sturdy. DOG by: 64.53.237.235
MISC: Identify year of rollfast tandems

Hi, my neighbor and I both have red rollfast tandems. We would like to know what year they are from. Here are a few pictures. http://www.flickr.com/photos/49535663@N04/4613133031/sizes/l/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/49535663@N04/4613749870/sizes/l/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/49535663@N04/4613749458/sizes/l/ Does anyone recognize the year, or know of a resource that might be able to help?
Hi, The frame styles suggest mid '60's to late 70's. The one in the foreground is from early '70's,It has reflector pedals and a headbadge of that era. The other one is probably mid to alte '60's based on headbadge. Both pretty cool. by: 198.208.159.18

MISC: Folding Adult Trike by Columbia

I'm trying to find out as much information as possible on my vintage folding trike. I'd like to restore/rehabilitate it into a ridable state. Can anyone help with specifications, age or sources for the same? A link to a photo is attached, I believe the front wheel was 20" and the Rear wheels 24"s. It had a right hand drive wheel and round knob that you could loosen to make the handlebars rotate for storage. The wheel were held on with big wingnuts.

My wife and I purchased a tandem bicycle back in the late 80's. It's an RBC. Wondering if anyone has any information regarding the company or bicycle. by: 24.16.5.178
Hello, R.B.C. stands for Ret Bar Cycle. They were out of Sun City, AZ. My great grandpa actually started the company back in the sixties but they were only in business until the early 1980's and I was still a kid so I apologize that I can't tell you a whole lot more. by: 72.208.125.155
I have a RBC tandem that I'm thinking of selling. Thought I'd do some research on it first, and came accross this discussion. One thing I found out is that these tandems were made for seniors (Sun City was and is a retirement community), and all have low entry points (easy on, easy off). by: 174.16.47.77
I too have a RBC tandem. Basic bike but nice blue color. by: 97.117.149.20
