Jon's Vintage Bikes

It is a 'Royal Lion' 'Made in England' 'Bicycle for Boys', acquired from original owner's estate. I believe it was purchased in 1955 at a LBS or Dept. Store. I believe it is a Raleigh made Dpartment Store Bike. It has a 21' frame; dimpled front fork like a Raleigh; Sturmey Archer 3 speed AW Hub dated '54' '7'; a rollfast speedometer (0-50mph) / odometer (228.7 miles); A Sanyo siren and front and rear lights and Dynohub front hub. The serial number is on the left rear drop out and is '3C655'. The saddle is made by Lycett and appears to be leather over horsehair. The rear rack is made by Ashby Presstube. The Bottom brackett has two notches and four pinholes and is marked 'T.D.C.' possibly T.D. Cross and Sons. The Lion emblem is identical to that appearing on the Huffy-Raleigh Sportsman of the late 1950's to which this bike is similar. The rims are Dunlop 26 and 1 3/8; the current tires are Michelin's from the late seventies.
All original except tires; siren wiring needs to be cleaned of corrosion. Not currently for sale.
