I think I have a 1960 tornado but is it a hollywood? I dont knpw how to tell the diff between the models. The # on it is B04825. I have been researching all over please tell me about this bike.

You cannot determine the model from the serial number.
The Hollywood was a girls model and the Tornado a boys model.
Check them out in the Picture Database at the top of any page here on OldRoads

have decided that I would rather have a tandem to work on. So I am after a Schwinn Town and Country tandem preferably with drum brakes.

What distinguishes a vintage Schwinn tandem from a vintage Schwinn Town and Country Tandem? I have an old Schwinn Tandem that has the shifter on the DT.
by 24.15.17.80
Posted on: 1-31-2011 by jj
I think the Town and Country tandem came first.
Then they called it a Schwinn Twinn.
The Town and Country name was also uswed on their 3-wheeled adult bikes.

hi Albert I am super extremely interested in your bike I also live in PA.  Your bike is absolutely perfect.  I am sixteen but I am still not allowed to drive.  It is of great use to me it is perfect for school cause I can carry my bag in the back.  Believe me I can take extremely good care of it.  Plus it is good when I have to bring stuff with me for babysitting. (I also have my own babysitting business) Please consider my offer so when can negotiate a price to pay.  Hope to speak to you soon. My email is nikithecollie@aol.com

Karl Chater would be very rare as I~m sure you know. If it proves impossible I have 1 Williams c34 and 2 standard  5 pin (BSA type) in chrome with surface rust unused and in my possession for 55 years. 1 inch by 3-16.

MISC 1966 Murray 3-Speed
« Reply #7 on: November 09, 2011, 09:09:59 am »
Posted on: 1-7-2011 by Jack
I obtained a 1966 Murray 3-Speed i think.  That~s the best I got because the only brands on their is "Proven" on the front plus "Proven" & "Alpine" on the chain guard.  The rear bottom number stamped into the frame is MO6131X50549060.  A little research came up with 1966 Murray.  It has a 1962 3.3.3. 3-speed internal transmission with a grip twist.  All original parts including white-wall tires.  The brakes have an interesting emblem stamped onto them; it looks like a whale so I~m thinking Japan.  Transmission works flawlessly it is now in incredible shape after polishing all of the chrome.  I want to keep it but could use some cash for college next year.  Any info on the actual brand and year or value would be much appreciated.

No there aren~t reflectors on the pedals thanks jj.  This is the most info I have.

Posted on: 1-8-2011 by jj
Looks like a Murray Alpine with a Shimano 3-speed hub.
Looks from the 1960s (no reflectors on the pedals).
It would make a great commuter in a college or city for $150 - $200 if all tuned and read-to-ride.

FOR SALE 1951 Men~s Schwinn for sale
« Reply #14 on: November 09, 2011, 09:09:59 am »
Posted on: 1-24-2011 by Duke
I have a 1951 men~s Schwinn for sale (#H163597) Chicago built. Have been told it is an early Hornet. I believe it is a "balloon tire" type. Tires are 26x2.125 Schwinn Typhoon (inflate 22 to 35 lbs.) It has a springer front suspension. Color is brown. Smooth ride and operation. Everything looks original. Has rear rack chain guard kick stand and several decals. Single speed coaster brake. No horn or tank. My father-in-law bought it new. Philadelphia PA area. Unsure as to value ($100 to $150 range?). Let me know. Photos. Thanks.
