BALLOON:Fleetwing bicycle posted by: mike messerli on 7/23/2006 at 6:28:51 PM
Does anyone have any information on a bicycle made by fleetwing? The brass badge on the front fork tube has a wheel with wings as well as the name Fleet Wing and what appears to be an 'A' in a circle on the bottom right corner. It has the balloon tires (2.25, 'The Silver Star Tire' on the sidewall), and a tank with horn, the color of this bike is black with what appears to be a feather design on the fenders (white outlined in red. The rear wheel has an adjuster on each side for alignment and chain tension (I'm assuming), and the fender brackets have an arch not straight like most 50's bikes.I'm guessing the 40's??

Hey I have a Fleetwing Speedster thatwas given to my by my dad its 35years old. Its in mint condition no rust hect all original parts except for the Rear wheal which got warped about 10 years ago and new tires and inner tubes. I've upgraded the brake pads and ride atleast 40-120km a week on it and it rides nice. Not as fast as other bikes on the street but it sure turns heads when other riders see it. It even has all the original paint with no scratches.

I just got a Fleetwing from a barn out in the country in Ohio, bike is blue with white trim and some arrow looking designs on the forks. says made in Germany. from what I have found these bikes where produced in Germany up until the war and then a shop in Buffalo,N.Y. started to put them out for a while since America wasn't importing from Germany .

Probably made by Raleigh or Phillips.
I see stuff in the archives here about that cycle.
Use the google search box on any page.
Also, try posting your question to the English Roadster Discussion Area.

We have a Phillips Fleet Wing 3-sp ladies bike made in 1956. How do we find out if it is a collector item and it's worth? It needs refurbishing and has been in out attic for 40 years.

It has value as a collectible bike and as a good commuter bike.
It was made in England.
Check the 3 Price Guides at the top of any page here on OldRoads.com.
Also, you might get more info if you post this under the English Roadster topic. There are some 3-speed experts over there.
