I have Schwinn Flying Star that was made in Chicago, Il. It has a metal tage on the front frame with the Schwinn name with Goodtire and Rubber along with it. It is a boys bike with a Bendix peddle brake and a Bendix Aircraft Corp. Two speed shifter. It has a low speed, then netural, then it goes to high. It has Schwinn grips, I think called Chubbies. The chain guard says SCHWINN FLYING STAR. As I stated it is a boys bike with a Main bar connecting to the main front support and two smaller bars connecting to the same support. I can`t find a serial # on it. It is a 26" bike. It is painted red and white. Any information would be helpful. Thank You Glen.

How do I change something on my posting. The change would be BF Goodrich instead of GoodTire on the lable on front of bike.

The serial number is probably on the left rear dropout (where the wheel attaches). If not there, it will be under the crank hanger or on the head tube.
MIDDLEWEIGHT: When was it made?

I had old schwinn middleweight bike that was written "Tiger" on the chain cover. Fram serial No.is D10184 and engraved "54"on S&A rear hub. It was made in 1953 or 1957 according to the frame# and made in 1954 according to the stamp of hub. Please someone must teach me that when was my bike made!

| The frame was made in 1953, and assembled as a 1954 model. The date on the hub shows it. Schwinn made frames in batches of several months' supply. Some were made in 1 year and used in the next.
The Suburban I bought new off the showroom floor in June, 1971 has a frame made in 1969. |

Good point Tom,and glad to hear first hand on how schwinn built frames in one year to sell in another. The middleweights were adv. as new models for 1955 but as you see some have an earler date---sam
WANTED: Fender and Chain Guard for Lady Evans

I'm looking for a front fender and chain guard for a Lady Evans (I know this is a LE because I have the "gas tank." If there was also a front rack I need that too, from the look of the fork there might have been one. If anyone could help me out with this I'd appreciate it - an any information on the LE in general. I know I had these parts once, but I've moved a couple of times and can't find them anywhere, though the bike rides like a charm.
FOR SALE: 1936 Blue Bird

About 10 years ago I restored a 1936 Bluebird for a guy named Roy Davies. He was the original owner of the bike (has the receipt to prove it). I remember when he brought the bike to me. I saw a car with a couple of old men in it pull into my parking lot with a really old junky bike on the back. I got a little excited when I realized the thing was a Blue Bird. I was hoping they were looking for someplace to sell it and didn't know its value. As it turned out the bike belonged to one of the old guys and he wanted to restore it. To make a long story short, he left it with me and about a year later the bike was finished and Roy came to pick it up. He showed it once at a meet here in Huntington Beach where it won 1st place in the restored classic class. Here's the sad news, Roy died recently and his best friend called me to see about selling it. If you or anyone you know is interested in a nicely restored rare bike, give me a call. I will be considering offers over the next few weeks so contact me as soon as possible. I know the estate would like to have it in a museum but they don't want to own it. They may give some consideration to any potential buyer that intends to display the bike with its history. Call or e-mail me at: 714-969-1122 teambike@aol.com Thanks, Gary

If you are sure its a schwinn it may be a 1960. I believe that some of the year letters were left off in error in the early 1960 yr. Also in 1957 and 1958 there was a number before the letter. I look at several list and this is all I could come up with.
