Hi there...Last week I won an auction for a pink and white Schwinn debbie bike...I got it at the but it now for 150- the seller said there is minimal rust on it and is an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10...If you would like, I can forward you the picture of it- I figured it's worth around 200. So, if yours is in better shape, it would be worth more....(I checked on online price guide for vintage schwinns- which is where I came up with the price) I hope this helps! :)

Hello Rachel.Thankyou !!I would really appricate the picture. Also did they list it as a schwinn debbie on ebay.I did a closed auction search and could find none. Im very unsure of how to rate a bike but this one looks pretty good. Altho the crome book/person rack on the back shows some pitting. Any help you can give is really appricated. Hi! Thought I would let you know that I received the schwinn in the mail- i sent you photos...the dude who sold it to me basically ripped me off..the paint was all scratched up, along with prominent patches of rust all over..the guy said it was an 8- but the clerk at the Schwinn store here says I got taken- I would rate it a 5 and the one i bought shouldn't have been more than $100.....I hope this helps you out...

this is the bike i had at Ann Arbor. its got a heavyweight frame, with 1 3/4 tires, hand brake ribbon, 3sp factory. everyone told me it was at best a corvette. even with the wide frame. so i bought a nice Corvette chaingaurd. guess what. it dont fit, and cant possibly fit. so i still have no idea what model it is.

Hard to say without a lot more and accurate info.
My best guess , Balloon tired Jaguar

I hooked a Phantom guard onto my 64 American M/W, why won`t the Vette guard fit? How odd and curious. It might be because the Phantom style guard has the little swingarm in the back and allows for a slight amount of play, but I`m not sure. They interchanged for me from heavyweight to Midweight, thet should interchange the other direction too unless the Vete guard is special dimensions compared to others.

well when bolted in front the gaurd has to point below the rear axle or it hits the sprocket. the front mount points are in different placesno damage to the gaurd or the frame, and the old straight with a stamped slash original fits great. going to try to find a 55 dealer catalog somewhere, this is puzzling me, i want to know what it is. also one of my good customers came in today with a ladies 1953 Bf Goodrich Schwinn in VGC all original, he picked it up from a barn sale for $1 !! sheesh! i sold him a HW 53 frame last fall we dont know what to do, restore the ladies, or swap it all onto the mens frame.

Corvette would have a smaller sprocket that the Ballooners.If it's a 52 tooth sprocket it's a ballooner,48 for M/W , and 44 (I think) for a girls bike

   RE:RE:AGE / VALUE:   55 schwinn 3sp posted by GaryM on 5/7/2002 at 4:28:30 PM
it has 52 teeth on the sprocket. it also has the handlebars some have called jaguar style. i am installing a new set of 2.125 whitewalls today, and am going to send the frame out to be sandblasted next week. anyone have Decal sets fot the Early Jaguar?

I highly doubt that the Schwinn Co, ever copyrighted the shop foreman`s daily serial numbers log. Taking this into concideration , along with the fact that alot of people regularly photocopy it and sell "toner mess" all over Ebay, I`ve begun to hand type the serial numbers and situate them on web pages by the year, consuming a great amounts of wasted time. This is another one of those painfully simple idea`s that everyone seems to have overlooked in the past.

I`d like anyone who doesn`t have a copy of the factory log book serial numbers to stay tuned to this web page for about a month, maybe a month and a half. I`m not going to stop doing this until I hit 03/22/66 and when I`m done, ANYONE will be able to get them by copy and paste and print out there own 20 pages worth, for the price of paper and ink, how cool is that ???
Here`s the url to save,

Good free stuff without copyright worries.

Nope, not me. It just seems that way. I`m just the one with the notched head bearings, who is willing to waste the time that is necessary to get it done. I just disslike seeing stuff for sale on Ebay that could be had for free, if one was to look for it a little. So I`m just the wingnut that is trying to FREE up the Ebay info. market so anyone can get it.
Actually, I`m a sarcastic, pessimistic, common sense addict, who is also a loudmouthed blowhard who will almost always call it like I see it. Sorry to blow your theory, but it`s true, ask around. Gman

guido is in fact the ANTI-schwinncol. schwinncol mike smith would make copies of his grannies underwear tags and put them up on Ebay if he thought he could make a couple bucks.

Hi Steve. Thanks for the info.Kevin K

Unless of course there are other possible years. posted by Guido on 5/4/2002 at 11:51:25 PM
It could also have been a Mid 1954 Corvette made between 07/15 and 07/23 The dates and numbers are as follows 07/01 to 07/20 L59396 to L62159. 07/23 L62160 to L65129. Is it a 3 speed? If so, check the Sturmey hub for a date stamp on the lower left of the Sturmey logo. It could be a highly desireable, early Schwinn Corvette, not that the later ones are any less desireable lol.

Hello All, Can someone please post What would the "Correct" Grips be for a 1959 Schwinn Jaguar? Script grips, or Chub grips? Please post reply! Thanks so much, Todd.

RE:AGE / VALUE:   Schwinn Jaguar Grips Question? posted by JOEL on 5/2/2002 at 8:19:03 PM
I've got a 58 and 63, both have the chubbys.

RE:AGE / VALUE:   Schwinn Jaguar Grips Question? posted by Bill on 5/2/2002 at 11:22:44 PM
I don't know what Chub grips are, but my '58 has white grips with "Schwinn" printed on them in script. They were on it when I got the bike new.

RE:RE:AGE / VALUE:   Schwinn Jaguar Grips Question? posted by Chris on 5/4/2002 at 6:51:50 PM
Chub grips are the thick, large grips. We call them chubbies because they are fat. They feel great, I love them.
Even better are the Raleigh version of these grips.

Hello, I found a old 26" cantilever frame with Mesinger seat, whitwalls, Back and front racks with a basket, and awacky paint job, definantly not original paint. Well does anyone have a clue what brand of bike this is?the serial number is L255697, thanks!

RE:AGE / VALUE:   Old frame found posted by aaron on 5/2/2002 at 12:42:13 AM
if it is a schwinn it is a december of 1962 bike, the sprocket should have circles in the design called a four leaf clover sprocket. wher4e did you find the seriel number? if it is by the rear dropout, chances are you got a schwinn.

I recently bought my wife a nice 1960 Schwinn Fair Lady 26". It appears to be all original except it has a Bendix coaster brake. I thought these were all 3-speeds. Does anyone know if Schwinn made any with coaster brakes?

Coaster brake model cost $67, 2 or 3-speed model cost $77. The bike was a girl's Corvette.

I have the civilian version of this bicycle which is a Westfield Compax Traveler, with 2 speed new departure with lever and cable under the saddle on seat downtube. The tires are 26 X 1 and 1/4. It is all original with faded paint maroon and great graphics. The serial number starts with a "G" (1942) "A" is 1936, "B" is 1937 and so on! Hope this information helps! Paul
