AGE / VALUE:   Excelsior Headbadge posted by: jack on 4/24/2005 at 4:28:17 AM
I've acquired an Excelsior Schwinn headbadge. Shape is shield on top tapering to an oval at the bottom. Red X on top and red background behind Excelsior. Blue and red paint, unrestored, uncleaned, unpolished, no dings or dents, paint 90%. I don't collect these type bikes so if someone can either tell me how much its worth or make an offer it would be appreciated. Pic available on request. Thanks

If it were mine I'd start it on ebay at $10.(If I wanted to sell it)and hope it went over $35.These badges are collectable and schwinn did own the Excelsior motorcycle company--which the name came from.So using it on a pre-war autocycle or B-10 really adds to the excitement of the bike---good luck--sam

i could really use that badge, one of my customers wants one bad... i wont make a dime, in fact if you sell it to me cheap enough i will give it to him, he is in his 70s, and rides a 46 Schwinn Excelsior, almost daily.

BALLOON:   removing spring from yoke on old phantom posted by: J. Wayne Jones on 4/23/2005 at 9:46:58 PM
I have 2 Schwinn phantom sprins on yokes an they are mounted with about a 1in nut insude the spring. Does anyone know what the trick is to get a tool in to remove the spring? I know I can get a new style yoke for it but I would rather use the original. I would like to get it apart to rechrome.
