April, 1959 if the number's on the dropout...
the SLDB has catalogs from 1960 on that include retail prices. You might find one pretty close to yours...
Got pictures?

We are looking for a reliable estimate of what one of our bikes is worth. Western Flyer Replica 1950 Deluxe Tank Cruiser, still in the box.

I have a fair shape schwinn Black Phantom from 1957 if I read the chart right.rims are rusty beyond salvaging the chrome but the paint is good except for the chainguard which is quite rusty.I don't know how to put up pics.I am new to this site'I know it has value.I saw in the price guide,a repro went for 1500.Holy toledo.but this will never bring top dollar.

A photo would help. Without rack, fenders, tank, etc,. and rusty rims, it might be worth $100-$200, but I'm only guessing ... and that's assuming that the springer is good.

AGE / VALUE:   Fleetwing / Mercury II Bike posted by: Mike Walsh on 7/22/2007 at 3:05:23 PM
I am restoring a bike I recently purchased for $20. The chainguard reads "Mercury II". On the front fork, there is a faded "Fleetwing" lable. The hub is single speed / coaster brake (Komet Super / F.S. J). Any information on the age / value of this bike would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same bike. Completely overhauled and a Shimano Nexus 4 speed installed. Put larger tires on but the rest is original. The brown color of the frame is a real pretty dark chocolat metalic. Nice bike. Nice ride. I know that the bike was made by Murray. I have a Jet Fire X65 Murray that has the same head light and tank. Head light goes past the front head stem tube. Also has the same buck board and paint design. My guess is it's a 1965 but then that's why I was checking this out to see what the serial number might tell. Other wise the two bikes are identical. Ones black & gold the other is black and red. The serial numbers are real similar and they both start with M and the 3rd digit is a 5.
