I have a phantom with a serial # starting with K2 would that make it an Oct of 1952?? or is the date code different on older bikes? by: 74.129.18.157 |
If it's on the dropout, might be '53. see serial number chart on this site. The info used to include a statement about serial number location taken from another source, but it has been disputed and is no longer quoted here. by: 209.7.150.163 |
Yes it is on the rear drop out. |
Looking for info on Excelsior Schwinn Bulet horn with push horn, blue / white two tone color by: 12.158.5.26 |
Hello, I've been looking for a leisure/riding bike and stumbled across a pair of blue & ivory vintage-looking bikes. I bought the ladies one and alas I'm terribly short and I think it is a balloon style. It's got 26" wheels and they're much fatter than my fiance's standard 10-speed bike's 26" wheels. It's a very handsome bike, with fenders and a little rack over the rear wheel. Thing is, the seat is all the way lowered and my feet won't touch the ground. I've been searching and it looks like Mercurys are not plentiful on the internet... I was going to just buy some 24" wheels and tires and see if they will go on the bike's frame, so I can ride it without dying. Do any of you happen to recognize this bike, or even have a general idea of what time period it came from? I searched on this site (great by the way!) and I was a pricing guide, looks like Mercurys were made in the 30s, up through the 50s maybe? I thought this was just a replica "vintage" bike, but maybe it's not... it could truly be old, I have no clue! I've attached a picture (I hope it works). I'd love to hear anyone's feedback if you recognize it. Also, should I go back and buy its twin men's model? Thanks in advance! by: 141.153.50.185 |

I am looking for information on the schwinn hollywood. What year were they first making them? I knew they stopped in 1979. Also I was wondering what years were they in the special color,white/rose or white/pink. I knew they made them only a couple of years. Any help would be grateful! Thanks by: 24.126.10.96 |
I have one from 1960. White with blue trim. by: 209.7.150.163 |
Would want to sell it? If so how much? by: 129.71.94.254 |
Might depend on your location... you can send me an email. My Hollywood has no wheels, but does have original saddle, bars, stem, grips and fenders. I have pictures. by: 209.7.150.163 |
