WANTED:Redline Chrome V-bars posted by: Mike on 5/29/2001 at 9:57:44 PM
I am looking for the final parts for my Redline! I was able to find the original parts in boxes and scrounged the rest from shops etc. I need a pair of chrome Red Line V bars, I prefer steel (I am going for a 100% restoration) but would settle for cromo. NOS is nice, but slightly used would be fine too.
If anyone has a set of black Dia Compe 860's with the monster 4 finger lever (the ones that Dia Compe bent to make the two finger, on the rise of the bar levers popular in the early 80's) that would be very cool as well.

In the BMX line where do Peregrine Master graphite composite wheels fall?Good, Fair or just dept.store junk?Thinks--sam

   RE:AGE / VALUE:Wheels? posted by Mike on 5/28/2001 at 7:04:24 PM
I would say that they were equal in quality to Skyway Tuff II's. They were a little stiffer in my opinion, and I rode a set for almost three years before I went back to spokes. There were quite a few riders that rode them before 48's took over... in the early 90's, the Dirt Brothers swore by Master Sports and they were some of baddest riders of all time.

WANTED:any 20" plastic wheels posted by: Hal on 5/25/2001 at 2:39:03 PM
I am looking for an old 20" cheap plastic wheel(s). The exact composition does not matter, as long as its non-metallic. It need not be functional. Old, scratched, cracked is fine. No hub needed. If you have something like this you were thinking of throwing out, throw it my way instead. Thanks. Hal

WANTED:bandit??? posted by: john on 5/24/2001 at 2:31:31 PM
when i was a kid i had a bmx bike called a "bandit". a friend was throwing it out. anybody have any idea of the make or specifications? any info at all? thanks. john

RE:WANTED:bandit??? posted by Mike on 5/28/2001 at 7:21:45 PM
The only Bandit that I can think of was a Huffy Bandit. As a kid I had heard stories about this bike and one day I actually saw one. It had some really funky bars and tires that looked like they were off of a tractor. It was funky and rode wierd and it was out there in it's design... Not hardcore BMX equipment but I am sure alot of kids started out on one. I'd keep it just for the sentimental value.

RE:RE:WANTED:bandit??? posted by john on 5/29/2001 at 2:46:50 PM
i got it when a friend was throwing it out, it got stolen years ago, probably around 1984 or 85, i wanted to find one, but thanks for the info, ill keep looking. it's funny you should say about the stories, we all heard the stories, and the guy throwing it out had a bronco, so he didnt want the bandit. everybody thought it was indestructible. i kind of tend to believe it, snicker snicker, around the corner some other kids made this huge ramp, and my future sister in law used the bandit to jump the ramp, leading to a broken arm and 3 lost teeth, I LOVE IT. john

I've been looking for those old skyway tuffwheels.

RE:WANTED:skyway parts posted by Broms on 5/23/2001 at 6:25:26 PM
I have a '77 or '78 original Mongoose BMX with Tuff Wheel II's. It has been in my parents attic since '82. I am going to pull it out this weekend and start to recondition it back to original. I will most likely put the bike as a whole on the market after it is reconditioned. It was only ridden for 3 years.

FOR SALE:Handlebar... posted by: John on 5/19/2001 at 10:36:06 PM
I've decided to keep my JMC DYD and restore it to perfection. This "old school" stuff in COOL!
I gotta find a place to post pictures...

While digging through my old parts box, I found a Haro freestyle handlebar. It is early/ mid '80's.

It's chrome, with a thick, knurled cross-bar. It bends downward in a "U" shape. It is in great condition, with one scratch on the left side.

Is anyone interested in this bar?

I also found a Magnesium Hutch headset lock. It's a keeper!

P.S. I'm looking for a JMC pro handlebar. Email me, maybe I have something you need.

WANTED:Inverted Tuf Neck- Old School Cruiser Style posted by: Dan on 5/19/2001 at 10:22:53 PM
Alright all you old schoolers. I'm gonna get my _ss back on the track with an old "Race INC" 24" cruiser wth a 5" headtube (high steering to begin with). The problem is the previous owner had the wrong steering equipment on this 1984 beast, and my bars are way to high (the neck is one of those high profile Mongoose Pro Class necks with the old "CW" bars) What I am in need of is an inverted "Tuf - Neck" or "Pro - Neck" all of the cruiser riders were using back in the day. Even if it is not inverted, I will buy it and invert it myself. I will give away my Mongoose neck/CW bars setup to the person who sells me the neck. Can anybody help me?
