| I would like to locate an early 70's Schwinn Breeze, in good condition. The one biggie is that I would like to locate a metallic green one! If anyone out there has one they'd like to part with, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks! (I'm not picky -- either the coaster model or a 3-speed). Please e-mail me at windigo@windigo.net with details.

MISC: Trying to find a Schwinn Black Phantom Scrambler
posted by: Jeff
on 6/13/2000 at 6:18:56 AM
| Am I just imagining things? Didn't this bicycle exist? I owned one for twenty years and yet when I mention it to others they look at me like I'm crazy, or even claim there was no such bike. It was given to me brand new in 1977. Released as a part of the (then) new Scrambler line, it featured a Black and Red paint scheme, coaster brake, BMX grips and handle bars, 20" knobby tires, and a chain guard with the name 'Black Phantom Scrambler' in White lettering. Aside from being exceptionally heavy it was a superb bike. I'd like to find one for a youngster who I think would enjoy one as much as I did, but I can't seem to locate one anywhere. Web searches and auction sites have both come up empty. Anyone have any ideas? Please e-mail me if you do. Thanks. |

MISC: Looking for Expert Advise on Early Bike

| I have been asked to help date and put value on a bike. I've been browsing and can't find this maker. The plate says "D. Mc-Carthy & Sons" followed by "Universe_____, Syracuse, NY". The bike has wooden rims, a wooden rear fender, leather seat & cork handles (one is missing). Owner believes it's from the 1890s. I don't have wheel size - will get it next time I see the bike. What else will help me date it? Anybody out there ever heard of this maker? Thanks for your help. e-mail me directly if you prefer (megnate@aol.com) Meg |
