i have a small child's bicycle (@12-inch?)
it is a westernflyer including original tires (hard tires),
seat, handlegrips, etc... however i have no idea how old this bicycle is. the word westerflyer is on the handlegrips.
is there a certain location on the bicycle that i can find the year/model?

RE:MISC:   westernflyer posted by Hankcrank on 11/8/2001 at 11:49:32 PM
look on both sides of the frame on the flat tang where the
rear axle nuts are- there should be a serial no. that you can use
to id. the bike with.

WANTED:   Asymmetric pulley posted by: Phil Lea on 11/2/2001 at 4:55:56 PM

My dad is working on an old mini-bike and I believe he needs an asymmetric pulley.

There's a belt drive pulley on the left-side of the engine, a 4" driven pulley on a 1/2"
jackshaft that shares a chain sprocket and it corresponds to a sprocket on the rear wheel.

The party who previously owned the bike said it "ate up" belts rather quickly.

I looked at the drive pulley on the engine and it appears to be asymmetric while the driven
pulley is a conventional "V" pulley. The drive pulley is on some sort of centrifugal clutch, so
I believe he needs a 4" asymmetric pulley for a 1/2" jackshaft. I believe it to be 18 degrees
on the left side and 2.5 degrees on the right. (I would guess that was the reason for belt

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find a 4" asymmetric pulley for a 1/2" shaft?
(I've been on search engines all day.)

Thank you for your time.

MISC:   Schwinn Sting ray Lil Chik posted by: Tony Goossen on 11/1/2001 at 5:02:00 AM
A neighbor moved and left some assorted bicycles, one of which is a Schwinn StingRay Lil Chik ser.#BF33034. The only things that show wear is the tires and the seat. The seat has a hole and appears to have a rust stain in the middle. The handles bars have minimal rust, but the fenders are in good shape. I am not sure of the year, although I believe it is a 1974 or earlier due to the 1974 liscence plate attached to it. I would like to know what the value of it is along with the year for sure.

RE:MISC:   Schwinn Sting ray Lil Chik posted by Doug on 11/2/2001 at 1:02:40 AM

You need to give a lot more information. First figure out what year it is by looking in the picture database. Then give more info on features.

WANTED:   Duomatic Hub posted by: Scott on 10/31/2001 at 6:21:19 AM
I am looking for a Duomatic Rear Hub..... I believe Sachs and S-Archer made them..... It's for a project my friend here in Vancouver is working on.

If anyone has one for sale or knows of a Canadian company that would ship one please let me know.

RE:WANTED:   Duomatic Hub posted by sam on 11/2/2001 at 2:43:10 AM
Can you tell us a little more--sachs and S-A both made 3-speeds and both made 3-speed coaster brakes.and a lot of other hubs as well.Bendix had a 2-speed manuel and auto too.Tell us what your lookin for and maybe someone will have one for sell.

RE:WANTED:   Duomatic Hub posted by Ray on 11/4/2001 at 1:04:14 AM
I have a Sachs duomatic hub and it is supposed to work like a two speed automatic but not sure mine works right. I think it is supposed to work off of centrifugal force and shift at higher speeds but mine just seems to work like a single speed all the time. Great looking hub though.
