The Sturmey-Archer staff referred to this hub as "The Perry Design" I do not know if Sturmey came up with their own tooling or bought up Perry's old tooling or what. A aweful lot of companies went out of business or they were swallowed up by Raleigh and where all the many pieces of tooling that churned out all these various parts went to I do not know. It deserves exploration.

FOR SALE: More parts added

| We've added more accessories (streamers, dice valve caps, mudflaps, horns, etc) to our Parts page. We’ve added more NOS Sturmey-Archer parts, too.
There are about 100 more New Old Stock British items still to be posted. We seem to be able to only get about 25 new parts up each week.
Once everything is posted we will change the way things are organized so it is easier to find the parts you need. But for now our goal is to just shoot, price and post it all. Click on "Bicycles/Parts FOR SALE" at the top of this page to see the latest batch of new inventory.

WANTED: INFO ON SERIAL NUMBERS OF HUFFY TRIKE
posted by: John Prescott
on 4/7/2001 at 6:55:12 PM
I have a Huffy trike that I have been restoring and was trying to find out how old it is and its possible value. It is a 24" trike with a 3-speed. Its serial number is HC5064012. I have tried searching the web and any databases I can to try to find a Huffy serial number list and have not been successful yet. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me.
RE:WANTED: INFO ON SERIAL NUMBERS OF HUFFY TRIKE
posted by Chris on 4/9/2001 at 10:19:26 AM
On Huffy bikes of (at least) the late 1950's to the early 1970's, the serial number has a single digit followed by a letter, which is followed by more digits (usually 6). The first digit on these serial numbers appears to be the second digit of the year. The problem is that a zero could mean 1960 or 1970, so you have to look at other features of the bike to determine the decade. I have never looked at the serial number of a Huffy trike, so they may not follow this scheme. If the 3-speed hub is a Sturmey-Archer, the month and year is stamped into the outside of the hub. Usually requires wiping off the hub to see it. This would be a good place to start.
RE:RE:WANTED: INFO ON SERIAL NUMBERS OF HUFFY TRIKE
posted by john on 4/14/2001 at 6:04:16 PM
I did not find a serial number on the hub.I really wasn't sure the location on the hub. It appears to be a Sturmey-Archer S3C based on the diagram here in the website. I also forgot to mention it has 24 X 1 3/8 tires and the model name is Senior Swinger. I found some additional numbers on the back of the frame near the right rear wheel that are:C72786 and C26064.

eric, i have been watching you ask this question for a long time. the truth is, when you started asking this question 6 months ago, you may have got a decent price for your seat. now, the market is down, and if you are offered $25 for it, then i advise you take the money and run. good luck
