I am tring to identify a bicycle that I had many years ago.It was a Sears "Spyer" style, 20",3 speed. It was around a 1969 model, boys bike, blue frame with a black&white seat. I'm trying to ID and locate one. If anyone has any idea as to the model of this bike or where I could find one please let me know. I can email a very poor black&white picture of the bike (and me) when it was new. Thanks

WANTED:   alloy 27" rims posted by: Bob on 5/30/2001 at 4:15:04 PM
I am interested in 27" X 1 1/4 or narrower alloy rims with 36 or 32 holes. Prefer rims in pairs, round, without significant dings or damage. Clincher rims would be my first choice, but I might be interested in 27" tubular rims as well.

I have an inventory of NOS 27" rims, tires, and tubes. Probably 30 rims and 50 tires. Would like to sell the entire lot. Send me an e-mail if you're interested. Items are located in Rhode Island.

I have schwinn typhoon and schwinn collegiate. Can anyone help me find their birthdates and possible their value?

RE:MISC:   I have typhoon posted by Eric Amlie on 5/30/2001 at 11:08:29 AM
The serial numbers will probably be either on the left rear dropout (where the rear wheel axle bolts to the frame) or on near the front bottom of the headtube (the part the front fork and handlebar stem go into). It's also possible that there is a small 4 digit number stamped into the headbadge. There are serial number charts on this website for dating the bikes. Value is hard to say. Condition is important.

I remember that Vista headbadges look like old Schwinn headbadges - oval with vertical lettering. If Sam's efforts don't work, I think I can get one.

You might want to ask your question under the "Lowrider and Custom bike" topic here, too. There are a lot people who build lowrider trikes. You can buy a single speed trike kit for around $200.

Short of that, do you have access to welding tools?

Please e-mail me if these are still available and if one is for a male, 27". My husband is looking for a "touring" model bike in good condition. We cannot ride bannana handle bars, ram horns or mtn. bike style. We want the upright bars from the 70's or early 80's....not interested in bikes from the 50's or 60's. Thanks. I have 2 tandem bikes, one has a heavy frame, coaster brake with a hand operated front brake, the make is UNION and its restorable, second tandem is made by Columbia has lighter frame, 10 speed, hand brake and can be riden if basic repairs are done.

Other bikes we have are, a Huffy 15 speed men's bike with hand brakes. We also have an old Molton 4 speed English bike that can be restored. Another bike we have is a 1980's BMX Mongoose which still can be used if basic repairs are done. Lastly, we have an old Columbia 10 speed bike that has dual handbrakes which needs minor repairs.

We're looking to either sell or get rid of all these bikes. My family and I live in the New York area and I was wondering if you know of anyone who could use any of these bikes?

Thanks for your time...

- Alex

My daughters Lil Chick was recently stolen, and one I found the hoodlums who had done it, all I could recover was the frame and rear fender. So, I'm in need of a SEAT, HANDLEBARS, and FRONT FENDER.

Any help will be appreciated.

I won't be checking email from May 28 - June 9, so if I don't respond right away, it's NOT because I'm not interested!!
