Hi! I was wondering if anyone had a reasonably priced campy NR crankset? I do not want to spend a fortune. Also, does anyone have a nice set of 27"x1 1/8 rims for sale? I also am looking for info on high end brakes for a 27" 10 speed Schwinn. Can you use campy or similar brakes with 27" rims? Let me know! Thanks, Alex

I was given a Grand Trophy by a gentleman in his sixties when i was 11.I have looked every where for information on this bike and cannot find any and would appreciate any help. The bike has the original paint job, white wall tire on the front, a mud flap on the front, it use to have a light, and has a black leather seat. The front tire is larger than the back. I do not know what size the front is but the back is a 26x1.75. All help is appreciated. THANKS!

Western Flyer bikes were sold at Western Auto stores and were made by several different bike companies. Your discription doesn't provide any clues. I would guess the larger front tire is probably the correct size. If you can post a photo, someone can identify it for you.

Did you still have the etch-a-sketch? I was wondering, is it NIB or excellent? A carbon dating test of the pickle sticker should give you the exact date of manufacture through the degradation of the scent! If it's a 1974 model, I definitely want it! Also, does it have campy knobs? That would be a definite plus! How much do you think it would cost to ship to New Brunswick, NJ? I am so excited that I found this incredible deal. Your price is more than 90% lower than the blue book value! Thanks, Alex

WANTED: Looking for English 3-speed ladies frame good running condition
posted by: David Poston
on 11/5/2002 at 7:41:20 PM
| I'm looking to purchase a ladies frame 3-speed in good mechanical condition, preferably tuned and ready-to-go; paint and chrome don't need to look so good. This is not really a restoration project; I don't want to spend hours polishing or big bucks getting it overhauled at the shop. I just need a bike to keep around at my parent's home for going to the store, etc. I'm looking for something around the $50-75 range. And it has to be a ladies frame.
Send me an e-mail.

WANTED: 5 1/2 in. long front hub axle for 26in Higgins 3 speed

on 11/5/2002 at 6:03:19 PM
I am looking for a 5 1/2 inch long front axle shaft for a 1950s vintage JC Higgins Austrian 3sp 26 in touring bike. The front axle on the bike is the standard 4 1/2 inches and is too short to attach the Stewart Warner Speedometer drive. The SW speedo instruction mentions a 5 1/2 in. long replacement front axle that was sold separately as a SW part to accomodate the thickness of the speedo drive mechanism for English style 26 in bikes. Can anyone help?

I'd try your local bike shop. They usually have axles in various lengths in stock. Newer bikes tend to have longer axles, so 5 1/2" probably isn't uncommon.
