| I have a ten-speed bicycle that I would like to find a true price for it. The bike was purchased in the late 70's, it is an AMF, and it is an Evil Knievel bike. It is white with red and blue markings, it has Evil Knievels name on it, it has on it 10+10, it has disk brakes and has been ridden very little. It still has the original tires on it and has never had the gears changed on it. There is some surface rust around the front fork, and some flecks of black spray paint from being to close to a project on a windy day ! If this bike is common I would like to know, I have been trying to find a picture, or a price on this thin for about 2 and a half years, can anyone help me ? |

| You have got something there. There are collectors of Evil Knieviel's stuff out there. Go slowly with this until you are really sure you have gotten an accurate idea on what it is worth. Patience. |

| Hi,
I have a Sears men's three speed bike (don't know the year, but looks like it's from maybe the 70's?). According to the guy at my local bike shop, I need a Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub with coaster brake for a 26 x 1 3/8 wheel size.
Thanks! |

| The first question that comes to mind, BB, is whats wrong with the hub that it requires replacement? From what I understand, they are fairly bullet-proof and easily rebuildable. I'm sure if it's just a matter of some internal parts, that fixing what you have would ultimatly be cheaper than the expense of buying a replacement and getting it laced up (This LBS sounds like the kind of place that would sock you for new spokes & nipples too). I believe that more information and a second opinion would be a good thing.
S/A experts, feel free to jump in.
In the wind, Stacey |

| I agree with Stacey. Unless the hub is bone-dry and full of sand, you'd be better off just taking it apart and cleaning it. Use the hub diagrams in the picture database as a guide. It's easy and actually fun.
You have not described what problems the hub is having. It may only need an adjustment of the indicator chain. |
