FOR SALE:   Older Schwinn posted by: Mark on 3/23/2002 at 9:14:25 AM
I just picked up this old stingray bike at an estate sale and was wondering if it was worth trying to sell or not. The serial# L344816 is by the rear axel. The bike is in real need of a complete restore, the seat post will not come out and it looks like at one time someone was trying to get it out and bent up the collar were the post goes in. I think the right person could fix it and you would never know it. The rims are in pretty bad shape, not bent but rusty. The rear hub has a red line running around it in the center and it looks in good shape. There are no fenders and it has a ten speed seat on it. Is there a market for this bike or should I give it to one of the kids that live around here ???Any help would be great.

Is this post for real? If you give it to a neighborhood kid, make sure he realizes that you're giving him a first-year very collectible Stingray (Nov, '63). I won't venture on a value because there's too many variables. Missing the original seat and sissy bar would really hurt the value, plus that seat tube thing. Definitely a cool find though!

Bikedude,If I could get the seat post out the the tube is no problem, the coller that you use to tighten the seat post with would cover it up.Do you think that if I asked 75.00 for it I may be able to find a buyer??

WANTED:   1960's Sears/Huffy Mainliner tank posted by: Bob on 3/22/2002 at 10:49:33 PM
I am just completing the restoration of my childhood bike, it is a Sears Mainliner, and I need the tank/light assembly. It had a chrome plastic bezel, dual headlights, and the switch was on the bottom. The bike is a 26" middleweight. (I took the tank off and threw it away when all my friends got stingrays...arrrggg!!)
Thanks in advance, and thanks to anybody I have already emailed with this request. If you would like to see photo's of the bike in 1966, and before and after pics of it now...please email me.
Thanks again
