I have a Chicago Continental Schwinn. The only number I can find is A81 on the right rear dropout. Does this make it a 1953? Would appreciate an idea of the value.

Thanks, R. Smith

Right rear is not the correct location. Left rear from 52 up to 70. Check the headtube, below and to the left of the badge. Describe the bike, and get back to us.

FOR SALE:   Need Help Please posted by: Jenn on 11/29/2003 at 8:34:37 AM
Ok, so I received this old tricycle from my grandmother, and know nothing about it. I cant find a brand anywhere. The tires are firestone and the seat is a spring coil that says troxel. It's red, (which I know doesn't help) and the handle bars form a T that curves in slightly in at the tips.
There is a piece in front that shells the front tire, and two metal thin bars connect on either side of the front tire near the petals. Anyway, it's hard to explain. But I would really like to know anything about it. Year, make, model, value, and so forth. If someone can e-mail me a way to do so, or any other info, I would really appreciate it. I have absolutely no knowledge of tricycles or bikes for that matter, so really ANY help is greatly appreciated. THANKS!

- Jenn

WANTED:   36 hole Dynahub posted by: Steve Soenichsen on 11/26/2003 at 1:13:43 PM
Hi folks!
I'm restoring an old H. Bates Vegrandis and I messed up by buying a pair of nice period Ambrosia rims that are both 36 hole... Looking for a Dynahub 36 hole generator-I understand there is such a beast, but I haven't been able to find one... Anyone got one they'd like to part with,or something similar that would work??? Thanks for any info!! Steve

RE:WANTED:   36 hole Dynahub posted by Joe on 11/27/2003 at 5:36:28 AM
Shimano makes a current Dynamo Hub Part number HB-NX30.
Older Sturmey Arrcher Hubs are getting scarce, and used ones often need hard to find parts. Occasionally you can find NOS units on eBay.

Thanks for the info Joe!!! I do come across 'Sturmey units at swap meets, but they've all been 32 hole... Still would like to find an original one in 36,but hey,if nothing else... Thanks again!!!

I'm looking for information about a Hercules sport model english roadster. It was built in Birmingham, england, but I have no idea of the year or the value of such a bike. Can anyone help with some info on this?

RE:WANTED:   Hercules Sport posted by Kim on 11/27/2003 at 2:29:06 PM
You will find a 2-digit date code on the rear hub.
Also, the English Roadster discussion forum on this site has a ton of info on Hercules bikes.

Thanks Kim,

I found nothing on the rear hub except made in England. On the rear dropout are the letters GW and G36. Any clues or ideas?

Have a 70's John Deere, black 27" Men's Racer, 10-speed. Haven't been able to find much info regarding this bike. All Original with the exception of tires, old ones dry rotted. Ideas, value???

I have a good collection of JD bikes. they don't command a lot of money. tfhe black racer is about the next to the lest wanted one. The white/yellow one probably the least sought after one. Black racer usualy sell for around $80.00 to $120.00 of course area and condition will have an effect. The JD are mostly foreign made and not of high quality. have to be a JD nut to want one. The green one is the most sought after one with the blue one being the rarest. JD tried selling bikes 3 different time and did not do well so some dealers started giving them away with the purchase of a large machinery. The small one especialy the yellow 200" has been selling for $200.00 to $300.00. Why i don't know.

About this small one, are you talking about the 20in. musclebike model's? I picked up a free girl's JD banana seat model that was rough but restorable. I've yet to remove the florisant green spray-can paint job but it look's to be yellow underneath. The flowered seat is trash, just hope I can match the print, if not "deere hide".

I have this nice old bike that both my kids enjoyed, and who knows how many before them, and surprisingly it's still in pretty good shape. It's definitely a cool little (20") bike. I'm looking for some info/value on this bike, and/or a buyer? Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

My Dad has an old bicycle for sale. He says it is in fair condition. It is also a double bike. I'm hoping he can give me the serial number, then I will be able to tell what the year is. I can get some other information about the bike if anyone is interested. Just drop me an e-mail.

I frequently see them on ebay. They are water slide decals though, not stickers.

Hi folks! I own an old RRA (S# AC60788) and am looking for info to establish it's age and authenticity. Been searching the net for some time with limited success, however it is nearly identical to the RRA pictured on the Retro Raleigh site at the Owls Head Museum. Can anybody help me find the original specs for this bike?
