liz, since its a schwinn it will probably be on the head tube to the right of the schwinn sign, if its not there, check some oher places like under the crank drive or on the rear dropouts. when you do find the serial number, you can visit my site for a chart that will tell you what year you got.
the site is stingraystu.com
hope this helps,
stuart

Hello there. I am looking for a bottom bracket for a 53
Raleigh 3spd. If possible is there a way you could install a
standard three part cotterless crank on that bb.? The threds are
not metric but some type of old English and the bottom bracket
seems to be of a larger diameter than the ones on a road bike.
please get in touch if you have any Ideas.
thanks mike frye owner frye bikes.

WANTED:   INFO NEEDED posted by: Jeremy on 2/3/2003 at 12:29:07 AM
I just recently bought a bike but I cant figure out what exactly I bought. I have removed the spraypaint job that someone had done and all that is remaining of the original paint job is three stripes (red, white, and blue) on the vertical tube. From the serial number (U164584) i figure its a 1955 Schwinn, but I cant find anything that resembles it in the archives. If someone could help me figure it out I would greatly appreciate it.
