| liz, since its a schwinn it will probably be on the head tube to the right of the schwinn sign, if its not there, check some oher places like under the crank drive or on the rear dropouts. when you do find the serial number, you can visit my site for a chart that will tell you what year you got. the site is stingraystu.com hope this helps, stuart |

| I have a 1979 Schwinn tornado BMX style bike , it has a the old sting ray style frame and a 20in seat on it IT IS IN MINT CONDITION, there is a little wear an the bottom of the seat. Other thatn that it is Perfect, it still has the frame center that says tornado, and And a NOS front number badge, and i found an orignal owners manual, but there it has a non matching serial number written on it.the tires and rims are very good and i would call the bike a 9.5 out of 10. i will ship the bike anywhere if you are willing to pay for the shipping. i am asking $300.00 but i am open to offers. THIS IS THE BEST TORNADO THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN, dont let it pass you by. | Hello there. I am looking for a bottom bracket for a 53 Raleigh 3spd. If possible is there a way you could install a standard three part cotterless crank on that bb.? The threds are not metric but some type of old English and the bottom bracket seems to be of a larger diameter than the ones on a road bike. please get in touch if you have any Ideas. thanks mike frye owner frye bikes. |

I have removed the spraypaint job that someone had done and all that is remaining of the original paint job is three stripes (red, white, and blue) on the vertical tube. From the serial number (U164584) i figure its a 1955 Schwinn, but I cant find anything that resembles it in the archives. If someone could help me figure it out I would greatly appreciate it. |
