| I have two bikes one is a men's ross eurotour that is blue with a 3 speed that is broke and the rear reflector is gone and the other is a women's ross compact that is brown and the front reflector is broke. Both bikes was bought brand new by my parents around 78-82 I think they have a small tear in the seats but everything else is good. They weren't used much they still have the original tires on them. If anyone could help to tell me what they were worth or is interested there help would be appreciated. Thank you. IL. |

| I bought my Ross Eurotour at a Salvation Army store for about $30 a few years ago, in extremely good condition. Considering the condition of yours, you might be able to get about that much for the both of them. Even in good shape, they're not considered "desirable". People buy them for the reason I did, for use as beater bikes. |
FOR SALE: 1955 Schwinn Black Phantom FS
posted by: Adam Jackson
on 5/10/2003 at 5:02:10 AM
| Hi, all... I have recently acquired a barn-fresh 1955 Schwinn Black Phantom from the 81-year-old second owner of the bike, and due to too many bikes, I amn looking to find it a good home. Bike is complete minus the under-rack taillight, and is completely original except for the tires (s-2 rims, Schwinn hardware, the whole nine yards). Rides fine, but needs full resto to show condition. It's too cool of a bike to let it just sit in my garage and gather dust! Bike is located in Northern Indiana. Am asking $500 obo. Feel free to e-mail me at acejackson@iname.com with any questions. Thanks! |
MISC: Adjusting Raleigh 3 speed hub

| I have a 1974 3 speed Raleigh Roadster which I've restored. I need help in adjusting the gear changer. 1st and 3rd gears work well. 2nd gear does not engage. When shifting from 1st to 2nd the pedals "freewheel" as if in neutral. When shifting from 3rd to 2nd, the pedals engage for about 5 to 8 pushes and them disengage and "freewheel" again as if in neutral.
I'm wondering if the original owner just rode in 2nd gear all the time and has worn out 2nd gear or has the shifter cable stretched so much that it will not catch 2nd gear, or have I not adjusted the cable properly?
Glen's bicycle book does not really say much on adjusting.
All help will be appreciated. Yours truly, Norm Hart |
