VINTAGE LIGHTWEIGHTS:   Antiques Roadshow posted by: Gralyn on 2/17/2005 at 5:50:23 PM
There was a message previously regarding an episode of the Antiques Roadshow featuring old bikes. Does anyone know if this show has ever aired?

Wednesday March 2nd on PBS at 8pm Eastern in Boston.

We were there all day back in September for filming. VVVintage Vintage Bicycles covered cycles from the 1930s to the 1960s. We're not sure what will air. It may be a few seconds or it may be a few minutes.

For this episode of 'Antiques Roadshow, FYI' their web site says: "Clay gets a thorough schooling in the finer points of bicycle collecting".

Here's a link to the 'Antiques Roadshow, FYI' site. You can find your local times and channels in the US.

Antiques Roadshow FYI
Correspondent Clay Reynolds learns how a set of illustrations by Mildred Boyle of Little House on the Prairie fame — appraised at ANTIQUES ROADSHOW in Boston for $6,000 to $8,000 — found their way back home. Then it's off to a parade where big wheels keep on turning — antique bicycle wheels, that is — and Clay gets a thorough schooling in the finer points of bicycle collecting, from 19th-century antiques to 1960s classics.

Many thanks to our host - it's good to see you back!

In the recovered posts from last September is news from Chuck Schmidt, who had collided with an errant SUV. May I ask for an update? I hope Chuck's recovery is long since complete.

I traded emails with Chuck about a month ago, and he reassured me that he had been making a "miraculous" recovery, which is consistent with what all of us know about the health and recuperative powers of dedicated bicyclists. (At the accident scene, paramedics underestimated Chuck's age, 60 at the time, by 15 years.)

AGE / VALUE:   Model of 1982 Chicago Schwinn posted by: Julia on 2/16/2005 at 9:49:45 PM
I purchased an older Schwinn road bike yesterday, silver with orange decals, and am trying to figure out the model of it. I dated it to 1982 with the no. stamped on the head badge. Anyone have a catalog lying around that might be able to look up the model?

Also, three stickers on the seat tube: Chicago Schwinn, Xtralite, and AISI 1020 Tubing

Anyone ever heard of a columbia converti-cycle. It can be changed from a boys bike to a girls bike. Any idea how much it could be worth?
