I bought an adorable girl's purple bicycle at a garage sale today. It says "American Flyer" and "GTY 100" on it. If anyone has any info about this bike, I'd love to hear it!
I came across a mystery bike a while back. The "Vista" name is not mysterious at all, but I can't find out any info about this particular model. It's 4130 CroMo, made in Taiwan, and lugged. I was under the opinion that "Vista" made department store bikes before selling out to companies that made even lower quality bikes. This bike is a joy to ride!
Any Vista brand I've come across has stamped lugs and gas pipe tubes....
I know! It's wierd. Maybe they tried to improve their name, but the damage was already done.
hello!
i recently found what i believe to be a 1969 Phillips Master Model bike. that's the year it says the mastermodel was released on this site, but i thought Raleigh bought on Phillips before the 60s?
Anyway, it's got all original parts, original seat, everything, with some very minor surface rust. i'm just wondering what the value would be. I'm guessing somewhere around 140?
please let me know!
Keep in mind the rear wheel with the Sturmey- Archer 3 speed hub with the date code on the hub which is where I assume you are getting the date keep in mind that rear wheel could be switched. Therefore, you could be thrown off on the date. The Master model did not carry over into the Raleigh takeover which was in 1960.
Good call on the cutoff date for the Master Model.
Once Raleigh took over, the MM, chrome fenders and all, disappeared.
Hello everyone,
does anyone have a spare sturmey FW planet cage for sale or trade? Thanks!
I found this in a dumpster last night! It is a pearl white peugeot with reynolds 531 tubing and fork. The seatpost has checkers and written "record du monde". It also says "prestige peugeot" on the horizontal tube. The mainstay is full chrome all the way from the crank to the seatpost and the fork is fully chromed as well. Looks good! Its equipped with Spidel through and through, which I never heard of but it feels surprisingly crisp. It was missing the pedals and the saddle/post, and the brakehandles was exchanged for some new shimano. The handlebars are "sakae world custom Japan" and I dont know if they are original.(sorry for the lack of jargon, i am norwegian;-) Otherwise it looks in great shape and i think its a keeper!I love the looks of it and have already ordered a seat of the ebay. -Should probably look for the original parts though.. Could anyone tell me what they are? I am thinking simplex seatpost and i see from old catalogues that some peugeots had an "ideal 2002" saddle. I will try and upload some pictures inbetween but my girlfriend just went into labour!!
Its a girl! Here is a link to some pictures of the bicycle:
Congrats on both the girl and the bike.
You'll have lots of time to ride in about 15 years...arf!
A really sweet Peugeot...best dumpster find of the year!
Thank you warren! Yes? Only 15 years to go? Really? HAHAHAHA!
Oh!? Still there? Excuse e while I inflate her dipers.
Lets see, she is squeeking.. HAHAHAHA! Where is that oil..
