AGE / VALUE:    20 x 1.75 CHEATER SLICK GOODYEAR GRASSHOPPER BLACKWALL posted by: ChristopherRobin2@starmail.com on 4/23/2002 at 12:41:10 AM
Well, the 20 X 1 .75 Goodyear grasshopper is a "Cheater slick" and was intended for a Sears bike not a Schwinn. Schwinn never used this size I am told. See! I grabed the last two slicks in the place without doing me homework!
It's hung up where I'll never use it! Anybody need a Cheater slick? let me know. It's aftermarket but in really most excellent shape.

MISC:   My Kustom Built Chopper posted by: Mario Romano on 4/17/2002 at 4:41:03 PM
I built a custom chopper bicycle using an Caloi Cruiser bike (brazilian made). I dismounted an fork and replaced the two fork tubes by new ones with one meter height. I painted my bike gold solid paint yellow and there is no visible weld marks. I bought an banana-style seat and installed it fastly after I paint my bike. I changed the stock Caloi Cruiser wheels and rims by my own custom wheels and rims, made from blue anodized aluminum mounted on it 26x2.00 whitewall tires. It have 26 rear and 20 front rims and brake just on rear wheel.

I second that, with a suggestion: E-mail the pictures to
BikeRod&Kustom webzine http://bikerodnkustom.com
using the e-address at the top of this message.
Caloi Cruisers are kool to start with, excellent basis for KustomBikes.

AGE / VALUE:   Decals posted by: ChristopherRobin2@starmail.com on 4/16/2002 at 3:06:03 PM
It's strange that so many bikes have decals that are messed up. A pal of mine some years back got a Raleigh Winkie tricycle for a young son. The kid rode it down the street where the other kids immediately peeled off the Raleigh decals! Anyways, this kinda buged the old man. He was telling me about it and he's asking me for decals for this and of course I didn't have them. He was asking me "What possessed these kids to to do this to somebody elses bike?" Now there is Nick Tithecloth of Nick at Lloyds in England.
How many times have I pulled out an old bike only to wince in pain and say "Oohh, They're not very good!"

As you look at this bike, feel free to chuckle and grin at all the rest of us that never find these and here you have it!
Where are all the old 1970's Big Wheels, Marx Moon Buggies, scooters and other Marx plastic toys? This stuff was my generation and I just don't see it anyplace!

RE:RE:RE:MISC:   what is it posted by JImW. on 4/17/2002 at 12:23:43 AM
Most of them are in landfills, because they were blow-molded poly plastic junk to start with. If a kid was lucky, it would last long enough for him to outgrow it for something real. The wheels would generally wear out first.

True, but boy, did we have fun! These would take hours and hours of use before you finally wore out wheels.

Aaron Bethenfalvy, late of Dyno Kruiser fame designed and built a hi-tech grownup version of that sort of riding toy.

You should ask about this one in the old-school BMX list. Skyway was a big brand in that field. They only sell the wheels nowadays, I think.

AGE / VALUE:   Tire Question posted by: ChristopherRobin2@starmail.com on 4/14/2002 at 4:16:15 PM
Well, the last two slicks in the place are: Goodyear 20 X 1 3/4 narrow slick blackwall.
And a Safe-tee whitewall 20 X 2.125 both N.O.S.

Then there is all those darned Goodyear Grasshoppers in weird colors. Ugh! These grasshoppers would never sell for enough to make getting some of em worthwhile. So they sit there!

I don't feel that aftermarket tires sell for much except origonal equipment. So you have to careful.

Is the Goodyear narrow slick origonal to Schwinn?

RE:AGE / VALUE:   Tire Question posted by Jeff on 4/16/2002 at 1:27:47 AM
Christopher,
You can always pick up those ugly colored grass-hoppers for us off branders who like making their bikes as rude looking as possible without detracting from the original paint and such. Would love blue, red, orange, purple or any other 60-70's phsycodelic(?) color....offbranders rule!!!
