WANTED:   COOL GHOUL posted by: Denny on 3/22/2005 at 6:14:27 AM
Hello....I am in search of a very special bike...my first real bike. After looking at the picture database I believe it might have been a Huffy, but I am not sure. I do know that it was bought at a Buyers Mart store in Pittsburgh in the early to mid 70s. (geez, I can STILL see the lines of bikes and smell the new rubber) It was purple with banana seat and all, single speed and on the chainguard it had a picture of a Tasmanian Devil type cartoon guy (green) and the words "Cool Ghoul". If anybody has one, knows where to find one, knows where to find a picture of one or even knows if it is a Huffy or not, I would love to find out. I would greatly appreciate anyones assistance in helping me recover a small piece of my lost youth......thanks in advance....Denny

I too had a purple "Cool Ghoul" bike with skid tire and banana seat. I do not have it anymore (i converted it into a BMX styler bike and painted it black back in the day). I can confirm for you that it was made by Huffy. It was my first bike purchased circa 1973-1974 in Cleveland, OH.

Hmnmmm.... Had a Playbike when I was a lad... though to tell on the one you have as mine also was gold... though it looked a bit more orange than your picture. Additionally, it was 3-speed, shimano with the "Clik-Stik" shifter. The original seat on mine was in fact white and did not hold up well over time.

Neat find though! Good luck with it.

thanks. it;s gold i think the orange seat makes the whole bike look orange. most of the parts aren't original. i just got a parts lot off ebay nd put everything together. rides nice though. will post new pics soon.
