What are the main things to look for when considering a 1968 "Original" Orange Krate? by: 76.227.117.181 |
Do you think Ebay is a good place to locate one and if not, how about some suggestions. by: 76.227.117.181 |
Yes, eBay and also your local craigslist.org I prefer to buy stuff in person or at least from a reliable seller with a good reputation. Watch out for people on eBay who say something is original when it is really reproduction or an incorrect part. Look at their past auctions and make sure they sell a lot of bike stuff so they know their stuff. by: 205.179.119.126 |
I would look for the rarest of the orange krates...1968 no front fender and a pogo seat...They were dropped from the line after a mother suied Schwinn cause her son got ruptured on the seat..They went back to the stationary seat post... by: 68.105.144.248 |
I notice a lot of people refer to Pete's for having seats fixed or special restoration performed. Does this company have a website? Also a follow up question to Kim. Did all the original 68 orange krates have a pogo seat post? by: 76.227.117.181 |
You can find Pete's stuff at www.hyper-formance.com He is an authorized Schwinn parts vendor and makes top notch reproduction parts. The Pogo seatposts were only available in 1968, 1969 bikes had rigid posts. I think Pete offers a repro pogo also. by: 75.60.109.169 |
Well, I won a bid on Ebay and my very first 68 Orange Krate is on its way. Thanks everyone so far. Watch for my other 10 million questions on what to do next. by: 76.227.117.181 |
I'm looking for a nice 20" S2 rim for an Orange Krate resto project. It is the last piece I need. Must be a nice straight, round rim with clean chrome. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks, Mike. by: 68.59.157.116 |
