I found my original papers when I got my first Muscle Bike. It is a Western Flyer Packet with papers. I am trying to make sure what bike this was as I do not have any pics from my younger days. Is there any way to determine the correct bike from the model number? The number that is written on the paper is MOM2766F I am guessing this is a 66 bike? I remember it being blue, rear slik, banana seat. It also had a front brake. Can anyone steer me in the right direction? by: 205.188.116.70 |
Guess since I don't have a Schwinn I don't rate a response by: 205.188.117.20 |
It doesn't matter if its not a Schwinn. There are no Schwinn snobs here. I didn't respond because I don't have an answer. I don't know of any Western Flyer serial number charts. I've never even heard of a model called 'Packet'. Have you looked in the archives here? Also, for bicycles, you can't usually determine a model from a serial number. by: 71.5.73.58 |
Sorry got carried away with the cap on Packet. The bike was a Western Auto brand. I am assuming it is called a "Buzz" bike. I know it had a name on the chain gurad but I can't remember what the model was. by: 64.12.117.20 |
Please post a picture as soon as you can..I think this is the same bike that i am looking for also... by: 68.105.144.248 |

i live in the boston area. i was just on craigslist (boston) a guy has what he says is a 1970 schwinn 4-sale. there is a picture of an applekrate with ram style handlebars, and a 5 speed shifter. says it has been stored in his son's room for years. he says he only wants $150.00 for it. if this is the real deal it is a steal . someone check it out and reply back to me to let me know if it is truley the real mc-coy. hurry while it is still listed. by: 68.160.53.137 |
Looks like a Krate with ram's horn bars and a lot of other goodies. It also looks too good to be true. I've seen a few great collectible bikes show up on the Boston craigslist over the past few days at very low prices and I suspect they are phishing for email addresses. If you send them email, do it from a 'junk' email account. by: 96.233.59.26 |
i to believe that this is either too good to be true, or someone does not know what they have. i just wanted to pass on the info in case anyone wanted to give it a shot. and, i will not be e-mailing this person. by: 68.160.53.137 |
I found an adv in a local paper for a '98 Schwinn Sting Ray Orange Krate single speed never riden (condition 1 )still in original box. I couldn't find such a bike in the dbase. Is this for real and if so any idea of value? I also have an all original Dec '71 Orange Krate 5spd Rear disc brake I have owned since childhood in average. condition that I am restoring. If I were to buy the 98 for parts would this take away value from the real McCoy? Thanks for input. by: 67.189.81.134 |
THE 99 REPROS ARE NOT THE SAME QUALITY AS THE ORIGINAL. 99'S ARE MAYBE WORTH $250.-$300. AT LEAST THATS WHAT I'VE SEEN PEOPLE TRYING TO SELL THEM FOR. I PERSONALLY WOULD NOT PUT THE REPRO PARTS ON AN ORIGINAL KRATE BIKE. by: 68.160.53.137 |
If it was me I wouldn't put cheap junk on a major classic as that.I would go with N O S parts. It may cost more but you will appreiate a true fine classic that you have.I have a 1972 pea picker thats disc brake. I won't sell mine.Good luck on your decision.God bless you & have a happy New year Neil by: 68.7.86.56 |
