Just picked a couple of 16" long seat posts (schwinn size) which I thought were stingray seat posts. Only marking is "minimum insertion"(with down arrow). I have another seat post same size but it says Wald. Is either (or perhaps neither) original schwinn equipment? I posted this question on the schwinn heritage site and the post got a lot of looks but no answers. Thanks for any info. by: 152.163.101.11 |
One clue would be the finish on it. Is it chrome or is it the duller cadmium plating? I thinl original Schwinn would be cadmium. Also, I think some Schwinn seat posts have "SCHWINN" as the minimum insertion mark. by: 205.179.119.99 |
Nate: they both appear to be cad plated but they definitely don't say Schwinn which is why I questioned their heritage. They came in a few boxes of stuff I bought recently that included an old Middleweight Schwinn brake caliper and some other Schwinn stuff. Can anyone else shed some light on this? thanks. john by: 152.163.100.8 |

I am looking for an early 70s AMF Aerobee Renegade. EBAY has nothing. Where can a guy search to find one of these? Thanks! by: 68.109.154.178 |
Gary I have one, it sat in my Mom's house for the last 30 years. I am the original owner, and received it for Christmas when I was 10 or so in Arizona. The current seat and the sissy bar are not original, though I replaced the low style original sissy bar with one of those very high "chopper" type sissy bars when I got the bike. If I remember correctly the original seat was a darker green "banana" style and it split on me, so I replaced it with a slightly lighter green "banana" style. I know the tires are flat, but original. The bike is currently in storage in New Jersey, I would term it in fair to good condition. I'll see if I can get some pictures of it for you if your interested and I'll try and highlight any imperfections so you have a fair and honest view of it's current state. You can reply to msdaly59@comcast.net if interested. by: 68.37.126.153 |
