I admit I flip bikes. Since I've been unemployed, it's been a valuable source of income. Today I found an incredibly clean '84 Predator Team Z. Looks to be fairly original other than Tuff IIs in place of the Z rims. When I used to find more bmx, I noticed that Predators never seemed to bring much. It would be really nice to be able to keep the sugino GT crankset for my commuter bike, but I realize that it's probably the most valuable part of the bike. I'm just not sure I should try to part this one.

I have no opinion on whether you should sell it whole or part it out, but if you can figure out which would put more cash in your pocket, then do that.
And saying “I admit I flip bikes” makes it sound like there is something wrong with flipping bikes for a profit.
There isn’t anything wrong with that!
You are keeping bikes out of the landfill, you are putting reasonably priced bikes back on the street, you are keeping money here in the US .vs. having someone buy a bike made in China or Taiwan.
This is capitalism at its best!
